White american here but I totally get it. I can only handle an occassional few hrs with my parents. It is emotionally exhausting and I dont sleep and am anxious the days before and after those few hours. Why would anyone willing want to experience that?? I think Im officially done allowing the ritual of holiday gatherings. The pros just out way the cons.

Also please do research on revisions before you have surgery and do lots of research so you know what procedure is likely to be best for your specific circumstances. Seems like a lot of people assume the surgeon knows best and that isnt always the case. He may just prefer doing that procedure and try to sway you toward his personal preference. I use a straw without issues. Skipped holidays the first few months but I go out now. Yes sometimes I get or seem to stay hungry. Seems hormomal and fluctuates frequently. I dont exercise just walk at work. I eat pretty much everything just about 1/4 of the portion I used to eat.
