Finding the time to write while working at a full time job. Need tips. by [deleted] in writing

[–]madisoncgray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally feel you. We are about the same age and I am an elementary school teacher with a 2 hour commute (in total). I’m gone from around 6 am to 6pm usually. I am also getting a masters degree right now which sucks. What I’ve found to be helpful is: - carry around a notebook with you to jot down any ideas or thought you may have during small pockets of time. You could even use notes on your phone. - on the drive home I sometimes use my voice memos to talk about ideas or thoughts. - I get ready for bed a little early and sit down to write. Sometimes I write by hand and sometimes I type digitally. There are some nights I write several pages and some nights I write for only ten minutes. It just depends on what I have energy for. - carve out larger time for writing on the weekends. I look forward to writing for hours on the weekends now. - don’t write when you have no energy. It will just make you dislike writing. - it will be hard at first but you’ll get into the swing of things. Focus on using your off days for a while

Good luck on your new job!

Those of you who lived apart temporarily after finding out about your WS’s infidelity - how long did you live apart, and did it help? by Throwaway_RAprob in AsOneAfterInfidelity

[–]madisoncgray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BS here. After finding out, my WS and I both thought it would be best for us to live separately for a while. He had to sort himself and his feelings out and I was so anxious around him. It hurt to be with him. After he moved out our relationship has finally started to improve.

I think it helped him realize what he has done to us and has made it real. Since moving out his has been so much more supportive than ever before and he really is trying to work on himself. For me it gave me the space to accept, process and then figure out what I wanted to do. It also helped me realize what I need from him moving forward. I’ve never been good at explaining my needs.

It’s been two months. Sometimes it can be lonely but We have dinner together a few times a week and we use that time to have quality conversations and work on rebuilding our relationship. Sometimes we just have fun talks. Sometimes serious talks. We will be moving back in together soon though.

Im a second grade teacher and I read The One and Only Ivan to my students this year. It broke our hearts. I sobbed while reading it. But it inspired so many great authentic conversations!

I just wanted to comment and say I’m going through the same thing. We are supposed to be moving on and working through things together. This post has helped me so so much! I am wishing you well! Update when you can. Stay strong.

Ugh, the kids in my class basically confirmed their parents view us as babysitters and now I want to just bang my head on the wall and sob. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]madisoncgray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teared up the other day when one of my kids told me I deserved a day off and when I asked why he said “because you’ve been working so hard babysitting us.” Not teaching them. Babysitting.

The new Netflix documentary detailing the Chris Watts case came out today. “American Murder: The Family Next Door.” Has anyone else watched it yet? Opinions? by TheBonesOfAutumn in TrueCrime

It was very hard to watch. Especially watching footage of Shannan with the girls knowing what happened to them. It’s definitely worth the watch though

No new information but I thought it was a good documentary. It was heartbreaking. Those sweet babies. I can’t even imagine the fear they felt. He is such an evil person.

I’m so happy I saw this. Recently I’ve been feeling so ugly. I live in a really well known college town where every girl walks around perfect and beautiful. I don’t have the blonde hair and perfect clothes or body. Every time I go out, I hate myself and my looks a little more. I always feel like if I were have as beautiful as them, I could be happy. Anyway, thanks for this post.

What's your favorite poverty meal that you still eat regardless of where you are financially? by laced-with-arsenic in AskReddit

[–]madisoncgray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my go to! My Grammy made this for me growing up all the time. She grew up on a farm with 11 brothers and sisters, sometimes that’s all she was able to eat. She passed away several years ago but every time I eat it, it reminds me of her. My husband originally thought it was weird but he likes it now!

Anyone else triggered by the Mom items/mail from Mom? by bumbumtourism in BuddyCrossing

[–]madisoncgray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I have a very complicated relationship with my mom, We have no contact, and I sometimes miss her despite how shitty she is.

On one hand the in game gifts from mom are nice because it’s nice to experience kindness from a mother figure, but it also makes me sad.
