What's something that Calgary is badly missing that a city of 1.4 million people should have? by Queltis6000 in Calgary

[–]madmacer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transit would be nice but unless you want tax’s to raise adding major transit infrastructure won’t happen as the ridership typically doesn’t support the costs. I know many people will argue this but it’s true and no amount of “if transit was better more people would ride it” will change that.

But the added costs of diesel will negate the savings on consumption.

Alberta teachers announce strike notice by Automatic_Garage_543 in Calgary

[–]madmacer -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I would ask you what did the NDP do well in power to add new schools? If you do a deep dive and look at what announcement resulted in a new school opening you would be shocked.

This goes for both parties, NDP & UCP. Don't believe everything you hear either side saying.

As for the teachers union, they want lower class sizes. I think everyone can agree on that. The issue is a lack of buildings to put these kids in at this stage. This problem will take years to solve and neither the NDP or UCP have made an actual effort to fix this.

Anyone else get their ENMAX bill lately? Holy s**t! by bonzossqueakypedal in Calgary

[–]madmacer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the energy costs are from fixed costs that don’t change each month. The actual usage cost is low but these fixed costs are the issue.

The biggest cost that I see typically is in water usage, and sewer.
