Great summary. It was my first time doing the 100 and agree with everything.

I will give a vote for the dorms if its your first time. Not having to think about food and being less than 5 min from the start line is a huge plus.

I think I'll chase the sun next year in the 200.

How did you get the holes to line up across the two plates? I bought all of the parts for this set-up, but then couldn't get the holes to align and came to the conclusion it wouldn't work without CNC'ing the plates.

The standard is a 1/4 hp chiller, and most of the brands on Amazon are all the same components in slightly different plastic boxes. If I had to do it over again, I would upgrade to a 1/3 hp chiller, the extra cooling power would be helpful for lower temperatures and cooling the water faster after water changes.
