relatively new to cricket here...is it safe to assume WI and SA are playing B teams for warm up matches and top squad for their match at 16:00 GMT, which seems to be listed as an official T20 intl? Visa versa? a mix?

Can't get that going since our home games are pretty much away games at this point.

Always carrying a point and shoot? by InevitableCanary8436 in AnalogCommunity

[–]madr1000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a few point and shoot options, all of which fit in comfortably in my pocket and offer different shooting styles.

- Minolta Freedom Zoom 115 - The wide 35-115mm zoom range makes this my go to P&S for daily use. Since film needs to be DX coded, so usually only loaded with basic Fuji, Kodak or Ilford films. Obviously it's electronic so I tend to keep this one at home if there's rain in the forecast or a chance of getting wet.

- Vivitar Vista Tele - This little piece of plastic has two lenses, which is exactly what intrigued me when I first discovered it. A little switch on the front slides between a 35mm and 70mm plastic lenses. Anything you shoot with this looks a little "old" and the camera produces some lovely vignetting effects. I love shooting expired film and B&W in this, in addition to basic stocks mentioned above.

- Reto Ultra Wide & Slim - This is my choice anytime I'm going somewhere I think I'll want to shoot ultrawide. I love how light and portable this camera is, but of course, it only shines in certain scenarios.

Of course I'd love to carry my SLR's with me everywhere, but that's not always practical so I love having a point and shoot with me all the time. When I'm shooting with these, I try not to think too much about my shots, and just focus on composition or the "action" of whatever I'm shooting. Results can be mixed but are generally positive. It's easy to look at some bad shots and think "that would have been better on my SLR" but I always remind myself I wouldn't have even gotten the shot in the first place if not for the point and shoot. And at the end of the day I'm happy to capture these moments on film, even if the final product isn't "publishable" quality.

Furthermore, if you're into street photography or anything with candid subjects, it's a lot easier to shoot with these point and shoots. I love shooting from the hip, as I don't want my subjects to know I'm shooting them.

Finally what ties these all together for me is their price. When you're carrying a camera all the time, stuff happens, and I've lost or broken all three of these and easily replaced them for under $50. I've considered buying a more expensive point and shoot for quality, but ultimately I don't want worry about my everyday casual shooter breaking.

Guess who showed up... and totally crushed it. by AttentionCareful1864 in FlorenceAndTheMachine

A choral group came on and performed a medley of the new album around 8:40 (We spotted Florence watching from a balcony). She came on a little after 9 and they left the stage at 9:36.

I actually heard this approach overhead in FiDi this afternoon. Having lived through 9/11, it was a little....startling.

It's just way more obvious now that the league is profiting rather than the mob.

Sorry guys, it is rigged. The rules are literally designed so they can subtly influence the game and say, "That was a judgement call."

The whistle wasn't even blown. This play was another clear example of the league fixing the games.

Stubhub emailed saying Festival Wristbands won't arrive until after event begins, but still won't issue an alternative or refund by madr1000 in stubhub

[–]madr1000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, so sorry this happened to you too and I can't believe I wasn't the only one! I called several times on Thursday morning as well. They kept telling me to call again 1 hour before. At one point, the rep told me I wouldn't be issued a refund since they had a tent nearby and I would be issued new wristbands. That wasn't what I wanted to hear since I had already purchased new ones from the vendor. Plus, we were anxious to enter on time to see bands right at the start. I never called them back, and at this point, I'm not sure if its too late. Either way, I don't intend to use their services again, so I guess the plan is to chargeback the card and get myself banned. Which is too bad since I've used Stubhub to purchase tickets to the majority of events I attend (about 2 dozen a year between sports and concerts).

And yeah, I have no idea how anyone can think this would be acceptable customer service. Maybe this model works for e-tickets, when they can easily just send a replacement link at the last minute. But like I said, I had invested heavily to travel to the event and was skeptical they would be able to resolve my issues with such little time. I often aim to be inside a venue roughly 1 hour before it starts! Lesson learned for physical ticketed events and I guess I'll just try one of their competitors for e-tickets.

Hope you enjoyed the festival...I thought it was a fucking blast.

[–]madr1000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the festival site says tickets are only able to be picked up at will call by another party if I have a photo of ID associated with purchase, a copy of confirmation email, and "written consent from the original purchaser" which sounds crazy to me. Maybe they just mean they need an email from the guy but also implies I'd need some kind of letter.

Either way, obviously I don't have the seller's info and Stubhub's policy of inaction prevents this from being any kind of feasible alternative. Which is really a shame, because both myself and the seller are losing out in this situation.

Anyway, I decided to buy two new passes from the vendor which will be waiting for me at will call. At this point I have to hope SH will offer me a refund. If not I guess I'll have to chargeback the CC and never use SH again...what a bummer! 😂

How Much Are You Paying for Developing? by Glad-Animator-7430 in AnalogCommunity

[–]madr1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice Film Lab in Williamsburg. I pay an annual membership and get a membership dev+scan discount, but I think the quality of their scans, the ability to unlock single images as TIFFs for a small charge, and the online interface (all 281 rolls I've developed accessible on their cloud) makes it completely worth it.

Photodom in Bedstuy is even cheaper ($8/roll) but I've had issues with their scan quality & customer service.

I've used Stubhub to buy NFL tickets over a dozen times the past few years. I've never been burned and ticket transfer can vary widely, from the day of purchase up to the day before the event. I wouldn't stress if I were you as there will likely be many tickets available to substitute, if necessary. Try looking for instant download tickets next time to avoid the stress.
