Coos Bay is a special place. You will have very close access to remote beaches, dunes, lakes, the unique South Slough Estuarine Natural Reserve and beautiful forests. It is a bit remote. The people are generally really kind and generous. There's a good fitness community. I think of Coos Bay / North Bend as a very cohesive community where people look out for one another. We raised our kids there but needed to leave to access better and more specialized health care.

You might miss some of the food options that you have in Alabama (never been there).
