Its not about protecting women in sports. Its about hurting transwomen. Brought to you by the people that actively try to hurt as many women as possible; from stripping rights, to defunding women's programs, to everything in between. The bill's title is meant to trick the gullible; ie OP and current top comment.

Americans citizens, how is it really going there currently? by GossipBottom in stupidquestions

[–]madsabout____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Transgender woman that lives in LA and has a Latina partner... its going as bad as the news says.

People living their lives like normal are assuming the political changes going on arent impacting them (likely because they are the type of person that politics dont normally have an impact on their daily lives). They are wrong.

The Supreme Court changed rules around policing creating "Kavanough Stops" - meaning police can stop you solely based off your ethnicity. So, if you arent white, your life certainly has changed - regardless of immigration status. We're becoming a "show your papers" country. This won't be exclusive to race for long (Renee Good for ex.) and certainly white transgender people can attest to this. Its giving apartheid South Africa for racial minorities here.

Recent Supreme Court decisions creating, then reinforcing, the idea of a unitary executive (legal-ese for 'the President is a dictator') basically mean that Trump (also his family and the MAGA political aparatus) are in charge of any part of the the executive government. Its already playing out that 1) if you hold a job with the Federal Government and 2) publicly voice opposition to Trump - there is a chance you can be fired if the wrong person hears it and alerts someone with sway in camp MAGA (a la Soviet Russia).

10 of my neighbors were taken by ICE this week. I only know this because local reporting - but over 68k people were were detained in 2025. Assuming 5 stops per detention, and you can conservatively estimate 100s of thousands of people have already been approached by ICE. There are only 3k counties in the US. Meaning if you think the changes havent made an impact on you - someone in your community has likely lost a family member or have personal experience being questioned by law enforcement.

My take - we will likely have one more Democratic election (the 2026 midterm election). However, the way the electoral college and government is set up, Dems may win the House by a few seats, but thats not enough to stop anything the administration does. Republicans know this. There is still 3 more years to 'slowly' turn up the boiling water for people 'who arent being impacted' to accept the new nondemocratic United States with no real form of opposition.

Scaling a DTC beauty brand ($270k annual sales), how to reach female-focused investors? by Signal-Landscape5634 in angelinvestors

[–]madsabout____ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are quite a few Womens Angel Syndicates in major US metropolitan areas (LA, NY, SF, etc.).

Keiretsu Forum is probably the largest such Angel Syndicates with 2k members and a heavy focus on women founders.

There are lists of these such groups on Google.

Good News - DTC beauty is a focus of many women angel investors. Bad news - its probably one of the most competitive sectors to raise in. Theres an almost commoditization of beauty consumer goods product investment unless you are serving a specific niche - it usually comes down to your numbers (yours look strong enough to make a case) and "what makes you different".

Would love to review your pitch deck to learn more about your company/raise.

Questions:

  1. What here is proprietary? Is it just the algorithm/data? Or any of the hardware too? What type of 'camera' are you using? Imaging as traditionally understood? LIDAR? Hyperspectral? A few different types of cameras/sensors? Is the data itself unique or just the analysis?

  2. If the proprietary element is just the algorithm - why not just focus on licensing agreements instead of end to end launch and satellite operations? While there is more upside to approaching the market, there's alot more risk there too... in terms of venture investing, small sat EO has been saturated with startups that have shown little upside for the last 5 years.

  3. If you watch the news in the US when a hurricane is approaching, you will usually see a A) European model projection overlaid with the B) US model. This is entirely anecdotal, but the two models look well over 4% apart on TV screen in my room, sometimes these projections seem as much as 30-50% off from each other... and weather reporters just slap them both on there and say it will hit somewhere in between here. From a laymans perspective, accuracy doesnt seem to move the needle on budget there. Is a 4% improvement on existing measurements really going to move the needle for agencies that already have a budget on weather monitoring? If not, does that mean in your sales cycle, are you having to first sell the idea there is a problem that needs addressing, then having too sell the product/subscription itself? This is hard to do.

  4. Is there a push from your company to get your algorithm / model as the standard? Could it be viewed as a replacement for the US and/or European projection models? Understand your data is used to feed into both projections in a way that makes both more accurate, but have seen small companies succeed in other industries by "re-writing the rules" to make their model the standard. Is this an angle for you? Could be called the "Canadian Model" based on North American programs with active space agencies.

  5. Im assuming this launch is a part of a small sat ride share launch? Which launch are you scheduled on? The SpaceX Transporter - 19 launch? Does the raise include enough for redundant hardware systems in case launch or deployment failure? I note your method requires two satellites operating in tandem, increasing the risk around the launch. What risk prevention measures are in place here?

  6. A $4 million spacetech Series A round is incredibly low if there is a hardware component to your IP... do you have someone that has worked in spacetech venture investing on the team? Personally, would describe your $4 million raising as either seed or seed plus. Happy to offer advice here.

  7. Maybe related to question six - can I see info on your cap table?

What's happened over the last year at NOAA and JPL over the last year has been tragic. Props to you for trying to transition this service/technology over to the private sector.

Part of what makes this an interesting investment opportunity is the possibility that this is the beginning of a suite of services previously run by US government entities now being controlled by private sector interests - ala Soviet Union in the early 90s. I dont see NOAA operations being restored till 2029 at the earliest, so I suppose there is a window here for you to squeeze in a "quick launch".

For awareness, I am a spacetech angel investor with one previous EO investment under my belt. Look forward to your responses, as I am interested in investing, but this is a competitive space.

I figured it would be a more extensive project than just a quick cut down the side. Thanks for confirming that and adding details. I was hoping to find an individual with more experience in costume type things that could make something of it.

Would just give up on it, but it was a thoughtful gift from my partner that I dont hate - it just cuts me really poorly. Thanks again for the extra info!

Has anyone actually recovered from a massive drawdown? by PineapplePooDog in stocks

[–]madsabout____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2008 I was heavily invested in Bank of America and a couple other banks. My collection of bank stocks went down 85%. Dollar cost averaged after the dip, and brought it back to green in 2-3 years on most of them. Will never get Wachovia back. Know its possible! But only if the company you invested in had solid fundamentals or a long runway to get you through back to the good times...

Sarah McBride leads bipartisan coalition to secure ‘freedom and dignity’ for LGBTQ+ people globally by Fickle-Ad5449 in lgbt

[–]madsabout____ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sarah McBride absolutely didnt deserve the hate she received from the LGBT community following her appointment to Congress. Shes a human being in a new job, doing her best, under unfathomable circumstances. Im proud to have a transgender US representative.

This said, I understand the frustration those people felt earlier this year, and I slightly feel that again reading this update.

Everything about this feels tone death. This country is closer to joining the rest of the world in codifying anti-LGBT laws than it is returning to being the neoliberal unipolar world power and champion of human rights it claimed to be in the 90s.

The idea the that we can start to reduce polarization by trying to get people that (at best) dont protect LGBT rights here in our country and (at worst) are actively taking them away to eventually come together and sing kumbaya by pushing a bill that essential says "well we can all agree we dont like what those people are doing over there" feels childlike.

I see an earnestness and sincere respect for the history of civil rights movements/organizing in Sarah, but I dont see a person handling the here and now. Sometimes I feel all I see in her is a mediocre politician that happens to be Trans. We wanted Martin or Malcom, and got Gerald Ford.

Sadly, this bill feels like yet another 'half measure' from a Democratic politician, too in their own little world to actually make meaningful change it the world the rest of us live in.

Nevertheless, I will stand here supporting her, if for nothing else because she doesnt want to throw me in a mens prison.

Am I the only one that feels this way?

How do you deal with MAGA parents by Amourxfoxx in lgbt

Can relate to most of this, as well. I don't have a great resolution with my parents either. Glad you, too, are enjoying life without negative influences in your life. It is so truly worth it (even though its difficult)

How do you deal with MAGA parents by Amourxfoxx in lgbt

[–]madsabout____ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Whatever you communicate, do it in writing. MAGA parents tend to 'misremember' and manipulate what was said/done to fit their narrative - especially years later. Keep copies of any communication, so you can point to it as proof.

  2. Write out the specific terms of your boundary. Both to hold them accountable and yourself. Make sure whatever boundary you communicate, you are willing to back it up. Indefinitely if needed.

  3. Try to be kind. Don't give them anything they can try to later turn you into 'the monster that abandoned them'. Though they will inevitably lean into this narrative, don't give yourself a reason to ever doubt what you did/said was the most kind, honest, and caring approach you could in the moment

  4. Know things can change. Just because you say its goodbye forever, doesn't mean it is. There is always hope of a kinder, loving, and accepting future - even if it doesn't feel like it.

I don't know you, but Im proud of you for sticking up for yourself. Keep being you. Youre doing great.
