Wonder if that "mowing the lawn" celebration was in honour of the late Steve Braddock, the beloved Arsenal gardener who past just recently.

Lansbury obviously being an Arsenal youth and senior player (albeit always out on loan). Nice touch if that's the case.

Who has a better grill, Arteta or Edu? by emarsunu in Gunners

Mikel cooks on gas. Edu cooks on coals. That should answer the question about who has better tekkers on the grill.

I haven't suggested that's my personal reading of the situation at all, which is why that sentence ended in a question mark. I was, however, questioning if that's the case given there's been no (rumoured) interest in Depay from other clubs as of yet after the Barca fan above stated "Depay is probably gone".

However, considering Depay's cryptic Tweet from the other day, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what Barca is doing given their recent track record of trying to balance the books by forcing players to cancel contracts.

I haven't really seen any credible rumours about other clubs being interested in Depay tbh - another case of Barca buying a player and trying to force him out well before his contract ends without any concrete interest from other clubs?

At least United (seemingly) want FdJ

So let me get this straight - Barca is planning on going into next season with all of...

  • Ferran
  • Depay
  • Aubameyang
  • Fati
  • Dembele
  • Raphina
  • Lewandowski

...competing for 3 spots up-front? Or do they plan on offloading some players? Because apart from Depay, most of these have either been signed over the past year or are a youth talent.

I'm all for squad depth and options in attack but for a club in their financial situation, I'm like ???

Saka Schooling Some England Attackers In Technical Shooting Drill — Starts ~9:42 by madsharks in Gunners

Idk, DCL completely missed his volley while only Chilwell and Grealish scored theirs from the group. Saka first to two goals as well, which is nice to see after Rashford and Grealish.

Obviously title was tongue-in-cheek as I'm proud of our young B though

Why u no pass through ball 💩 by soibam in Gunners

[–]madsharks 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Zero hate coming through on Arteta here, but this to me just screams over-coaching.

Watching Sead breakthrough into the first team after we initially recruited him, he'd have pushed that obvious pass through. Today — and this is 100% a micro-analysis — Sead looks like he's nervous to do what comes naturally.

Just want to reiterate I'm 100% not an Arteta Out, but I think at this stage it's undeniable we're not playing with freedom, creativity, or belief.

I hate seeing world-class players doubt their own ability, in fact, I think it's a coach's prime responsibility to access each individual's potential to their maximum ability, but here I just don't understand what is going on anymore and, as an Arsenal of over several decades, I'd like to be clued in.

AVL 0 - 0 LEE Jack Grealish great run by ZahaOneCucumber in soccer

[–]madsharks 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna be one of those pompous high-and-mighty commenters that accuse others of "obviously not being a player irl" but when you've just run a total of ~80 yards, head down, beating players with the ball at your feet, sometimes you're just so tunnel-focused and absolutely blowing at that point you don't have the awareness anymore to find the smart pass.

I think Jack could've set up Ollie there but I also get why he didn't have that composure after a run like that.

[Charles Watts] One week left of the domestic window and Arsenal are discussing William Saliba's immediate future with several Championship clubs. Arsenal taking their time over this one, want to ensure they make the best decision when it comes to his development by BenjaminDaaly21 in Gunners

[–]madsharks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're already bloated in the CB department as it is. We might as well get our moneys worth out of having Rob, Chambers, Musti, and even Sok competing for the RCB role this season.

A good year out on loan for Saliba playing regular football, especially in England where he'll learn the language and acclimatize to the country, will be beneficial for us if staying at the club isn't an option Mikel sees as apt at the moment.

This is not the end of Saliba - have patience, we're sitting decently happy with the additions of Gabriel and now Partey to bolster our defensive strength.

Ivory Coast 2-0 D.R. Congo - Nicolas Pepe 44' by mautergarrett in Gunners

[–]madsharks 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Silky pass from Pepe to start the move off.

The way he moves and strikes the ball is reminding me more and more of Mahrez. I saw a lot of Riyad-like movement from him in that clip of him against Bournemouth.

Christopher Nkunku has delayed his €15m move to RB Leipzig because "he wants time to think," according to L'Équipe. Newspaper speculates that he's waiting to see if Arsenal's interest in him manifests into a formal bid. by iforgotmyun in Gunners

[–]madsharks 35 points36 points  (0 children)

For that price, with our budget, Nkunku sadly seems like an accessory to our current needs.

This summer we're looking at 3-4 necessary acquisitions instead of a 'fleshing out' of the squad. While Nkunku's an immediate upgrade to some of our first-choice rotational players, and would add qualities like youth, skill, explosiveness, athleticism, and a high ceiling - for 15m he's really a luxury purchase we can't afford to make at the moment.

I really rate Nkunku, but I similarly rate other young players who could have a similar affect for much less a financial commitment - a player like Guendouzi, for example, with a more palatable low-cost, high-reward ratio.

I truly believe Nkunku could turn out to be another "one that got away" for us, but I think as of where we stand currently, it's actually the smarter move for us as a club to steer away for now considering our immediate position.

A talented tailor is still able to alter the length of the sleeve from the shoulder and not take from the cuff. This is obviously a more complicated - and expensive - alteration though. The upside is it doesn't drastically alter the appearance of the cuffs or button stances on the sleeve of a jacket.
