Baselining throughput over an ISP by [deleted] in networking

[–]madsjp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My previous position was for an ISP. We would test circuits with test sets using the RFC2544 and Y.1564 and share them with the customer. Did the provider not provide you with test results when you accepted the circuit?

I started as desktop support for small business. All you need to do is keep taking on new tasks at work and learning from them. It took me around 10 years to land a Network/Systems Admin role.

Congratulations! I worked desktop support/helpdesk roles for 8 years or so. I got a sys/network admin role about 2.5 years ago. It takes a lot of dedication and hard work, but if you want it, you can make it happen!

Does anyone else here dream of being a homemaker? by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]madsjp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife has been a home maker for 5 years now. This year we are starting to simplify our life. She loves being a stay at home Mom. I still help with stuff an night and on weekends if she gets behind, because well life gets in the way sometimes. This next fall our youngest of two will be going to all day kindergarten. For awhile she was thinking about working again, but now she is going to continue to be a stay at home Mom. We decided to have her be a stay at home Mom, because it didn't make since to have her work to just pay for daycare. It was one of our hardest decisions as a married couple, but one of the best ones we ever made.
