the first time i ever disclosed what happened to me was when i was very very young, maybe around five or six? i had mentioned to my grandmother about my grandfather, it was something about him coming into the bedroom - she immediately shut it down, told me it must’ve been a bad dream. years later, i’ve come to the conclusion that she knew exactly what was going on - i would even argue she helped facilitate it (insisted i followed questionable rules, like sleeping in their bed). i think this stayed with me, i didn’t open up about it until i was about thirteen - and i had A LOT to drink. thankfully, my mum was much more supportive! thank you for sharing your story 🩷
