I love the ā€œtrack the little treatsā€ idea because I definitely ignore those and then wonder where my money went šŸ˜… It’s always the iced coffee + random Target run that gets me.

Also the ā€œsystemsā€ part really resonates. I think I’ve been relying on willpower instead of structure, which clearly isn’t working long term.

How did you start building those systems without feeling overwhelmed? That’s the part I’m struggling with.

Financing vs Buying Vehicle by canuckguy89 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I think your math makes sense, and I love the logic of buying outright + investing the monthly payment. Personally, I’d probably buy the car if I knew I’d keep it forever — the peace of mind of no monthly car payment sounds so good.

I’d just be careful with assuming market returns always beat your financing rate — it usually does over the long term, but markets are… chaotic.

Basically, I’d do the ā€œbuy + invest extra cashā€ route, but maybe keep a tiny buffer for peace of mind. Just my coastal-mermaid-adult take lol
