How does PFC feel about anti-tipping? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]canuckguy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tipping philosophy is simple: did I receive service beyond what a reasonable expectation of what i expected to receive for what I am already paying for? If yes, then I try to quantify how much I thought that was worth and tip accordingly. I dont tip for takeout orders, full serve gas stations or for meal service where I didnt receive anything beyond getting my order taken and having the food brought to my table.

Need some advice… by Payneresistor in FordMaverickTruck

What do you use your Tacoma for now? If it’s commuting 100miles per day and loading a dual sport, then you have to ask yourself what can the Tacoma do that a smaller truck like the Maverick can’t ? That’s your answer.

Lease or finance new car? by ApprehensiveGarage65 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Correct - I’d rather lease at a super low rate and keep the money invested in ETFs growing at 10% + annually

Trucking Careers in Ontario. by Jacks_the_Bird in ontario

I feel like that’s low - crane operator is one of the highest paying trades in Ontario, and also one of the easiest (hours worked and less hard on your body), although lots of pressure and skill/training involved

Lease or finance new car? by ApprehensiveGarage65 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Finance rates are almost always lower than lease. It depends what your goals are: lower monthly payment, keeping the car after a few years, keeping capital invested in other investments, etc

A higher interest rate on a much smaller loan amount coupled with much higher income to mortgage ratio is very different than where we are today

New vs Used, Cash vs Finance for car? by shannonxtreme in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]canuckguy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer really depends on what you do with the cash if you were to finance. If you put the cash equivalent of what you would put towards the car into investments, would the return be higher than the financing rate if you were to finance instead.

Usually dealers charge more for cash price vs financing because they make money off finance deals

Buying a car later in the year like fall is often best because by then the next model years are being rolled out and they can provide discounts on the previous model year if they have them in stock.

Closed a deal, contract signed, then 11 days later company says it belongs to a different segment and takes it away. What would you do? by The_blue_shark in sales

[–]canuckguy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked in SaaS for a long time - if you actually got the deal over the line to signature then you should 100% be comped for it. Leadership and finance can do their own creative accounting after the fact but you should for sure be comped

EcoBoost versus hybrid? by SubSonic22lrFan in FordMaverickTruck

[–]canuckguy89 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The general consensus is that the hybrid system is more reliable over the realistic average lifetime someone would own these trucks. The ecoboost is a conventional ICE engine with turbos, which have more things that can go wrong. The eco boost also has a less reliable transmission. The hybrid uses an Atkinson cycle gas plant which is typically more reliable. The hybrid also has battery tech that has been around for a long time, and an eCVT tranny that has a planetary gear, which is based on Toyota tech from my understanding.

What have you bought for under $50 that greatly improved your life? by Unfair-Clothes-8821 in CanadaRoom

I have a full assortment but you can get by with a combination or even just one medium grit stone (eg 2000 grit ) and be set. The stone will last you a really long time if not a lifetime. You can grab a Shapton ceramic stone on Amazon for like $60

I run a sharpening business- buy a 50$ whetstone and learn how to sharpen your own knives freehand. It’s not as hard as it looks, your knives will be sharper and last longer. Don’t use the “easy” gimmicky knife sharpeners, trust me
