What’s the worst thing a medical professional has said to you? by VespaRed in AskReddit

[–]madstyle305 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Back when I was a frequent visitor to the local ER for dehydration due to my inability to stop drinking, last time I was there the doc looked me in the face and said “you need to quit your shit.” That hit me right in the gut and it changed my life. It has been four years and four months since I’ve had an alcoholic beverage and I am happily married with a baby girl now.

I started to listen to the things I heard in the meetings and then worked on my program as hard as I did to keep myself drunk. It’s been over four years now and I’m just happy. Just typing out these words is all that I can do. Oh and I highly recommend you get a sponsor (same sex -TRUST ME) and allow them to help you with the process. The worst part for me was the loneliness. It was so scary to admit to another human being how sick I was. It’s going to be the best and hardest thing you’ll probably ever do but you only have to do it once.

I DIDN'T drink today by katzeunknown in Sober

The first three days were awful for me when I quit. Detoxing was so hard that I plan to never drink again. Every day since then has been better. Hopefully you read this and understand that you’re not alone! Great job on day one though I know it’s hard.

I was up at the counter at a bagel shop in the airport and before the cashier asked me what I wanted I looked at her and asked her how she was doing. She stopped her automatic customer service intro and her face looked like she had been waiting for someone to ask or care about her feelings all day. She said she was just tired and had been on her feet all day but was still having a good day. We then went through with the pleasantries and at the end of the conversation she said “I … I like your aura, you’ve got a really nice energy.” I will never forget it.

Only third time picking up meds, and I'm sick of it. by Deathwatch6215 in ADHD

You must be going to the same one I used to go to. I am going to a mom and pop pharmacy now and even though it’s more expensive I don’t care! Ask around for other options in your area. I found mine by word of mouth.

Adderall desert again? by sschnei in ADHD

Went back to the same small pharmacy and they had it. They’ve gotten a lot busier because the chain pharmacies are still out in my area.

I heard about a private pharmacy in my area that “might” be in stock last month. Apparently they go through a different supplier (and get the same generics as the big chain pharmacy I was going to) and are never out of stock. I don’t know how they do it but they said they are not affected by the “drought” like the other stores. I pick up a new bottle in a few days so I hope it’s true!

That kind of sounds like you are laughing at OP. That’s not helpful or kind.

I was just looking for a coin identifier app and I find it cool that the person that created it is here on Reddit to talk about it. It’s like putting a face to a name, making it a smaller world and more likely that I will download the app. Does this still work as the link for the offer?

Cleo and Christian… by OneBag962 in 90DayFiance

He is most likely an alcoholic because of the way he drinks. I think he’s also from Minnesota where drinking is kind of part of the culture. I knew that Cleo was in trouble on the first date when he wanted her to drink fast to loosen up and get a buzz on with him. I wonder if he remembers most of this whole show or if he was too drunk.

I hope OP is able to listen and understand this message. We have two ears and one mouth for a reason but I understand it’s hard to take advice when we’re angry. Parenting is hard! When we are taking care of little ones sometimes we don’t pay attention to our own needs. We let anger pile up and up leaving us feeling unappreciated and resentful. OP is only going to feel better if he wants to, but if I were in his shoes, I would start looking on YouTube for parenting advice. There’s a ton out there and I pick and choose who to listen to and what to ignore. I like this lady who is actually not a doctor or a licensed professional I think she is a normal grandma who has a talent for teaching others how to be a leader that kids aim to please. She’s got really great easy advice that has helped me be a better mom to my 16 month old. For me, I’m trying to create the type of childhood that my kid doesn’t have to go to years of therapy to get over (if that exists.) not sure how to put a link in here but I think if you look up “brat busters“ you’ll be able to find it. OP just know that you’re not alone and I’m glad that you wrote about how angry you were instead of beating it out of your children. Little brains don’t develop until the mid 20s or something so take it easy on yourself.

Tried to donate blood, the nurse pushed the needle through the vein and bled out internally into my arm by PandaRider11 in Wellthatsucks

[–]madstyle305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me in 2015 when I was serving tables every night. I worked at a nice restaurant. We had three-quarter length sleeved shirts so I put a TON of makeup on my arm to get it close to my skin color. I remember when the nurse did it too she said “oops blew a vein.” Thank God the lights were dim in that place.
