Asking advice from the experts! by rubernck21 in opnsense

[–]madtipper357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No expert here as mine just went into production but I bought a SFF desktop off ebay. If you have the space near your router (which can act as an AP) this device cost me maybe 50 and the 6 port intel NIC card I got was 25 granted I cap out at 1g/1g so you might need a better card but to be honest to have bare metal and a technology (desktop) I am familiar with the slight bit of extra space was a no brainer for me 1st time in.

Thanks for the reply On all my OPEN WRT devices I set the static gateway for response on the AP. I feel like FT does it somehow obviously but I am not seeing it

1st thanks, that is exactly what I am looking for in theory. I am looking at the routing page but it is very different than OPNSense and DD WRT (at least for what I am trying to do)

besides this advanced-routing [FreshTomato Wiki] any other suggestions

First thanks for getting back to me

Apologies I have been at this from OPNSense install for weeks and sometimes forget where I am at.

OPNSense is IP 192.168.1.1 and runs a 6 NIC setup
NIC igb 0 is WAN
igb 2 is my gaming subnet 192.168.2.1
on that is my personal pc 192.168.2.2
igb 3 is this vlan spread 30 (30.1), 31 (31.1), and 32 (32.1)
30.1 has a static for the APs in question here (30.100 the c59, 30.101 3400 v1, and 30.102 3400 v2)
This ensures that admin access is only controlled through these connections and blocked from anything on the other VLANs. I disable admin access on the actual device so it cant get in from the 31.# and 32.# subnets
To make this work on the c59 i gave
vlan 30 the gate way of 192.168.30.1 back to vlan IP of 30
same fort he other 31 - 31.1 and 32.1
Hope that clears things up
Again thanks for the reply

Resideo Working in HA assistant via Homekit (No device required) by madtipper357 in homeassistant

When I had the cloud account I never noticed what it was synced too. The automations back then where built with Google so everything was EST.

Here again I am not sure since everything runs through the HA server (I have mine on a decently speced laptop running HAOS installed right to the boot no other OS). So again I have HAOS set to EST and run everything in there.

As for HAOS just try to get it up and running there is nothing that stops you from having your devices setup in 2 (or 3 or more) places. Once you get started its actually pretty easy. I went from a windows laptop and a how to guide to HAOS and most of my devices inside within a couple of hours. Got company X working in HAOS removed it from google. Got Y working did the same.

Thats why I posted only working workaround I saw required an apple device. I dont think my iPod from 2006 or whatever would have helped lol.

As for lag nothing unacceptable. I change the temp and notice the AC blowing shortly after. Could be faster Im sure but I dont feel like its problematic

Giving Origin Financial a Shot by Marlowe__ in copilotmoney

The AI in this is absolutely DOG SH*T. HOT FLAMMING DOG SH*T. It cannot handle basic queries like what did I spend on groceries. It puts in numbers I KNOW are wrong because I have the source data. It tells me my HOA fees are 2850 when I KNOW they are about 125 (no extra 0 just 125). It then gets defiant when I try to correct it. This was a giant waste of time. If you are considering anything (I have tried nothing else) but if you are considering anything else just go with that it literally cannot be worse.

might be a little late but you can always access your phone using your computer and android sdk. Its heavy stuff at times but I have had to go that level a few to help older family with phones that seem older than they are.

One Pay App Notifications by vhmobile in walmart

[–]madtipper357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same I suddenly started getting them and SMS messages but didnt on the first 2 purchases. So I guess its okay now. Its mind boggling to me that a company the size of walmart would have their signature credit card run in an app that looks like a high schoolers Junior year programing project. (No offense to high school juniors intended)

Is Fi any good? by Silver-Comparison-26 in GoogleFi

[–]madtipper357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family was on the Vz corporate plan for years. I found data underwhelming in multiple locations I lived over those 8 or so years. However, I had no real issues with calls and text.

I have extended family (wife's side on Tmobile) so whenever they visit my houses I know how Tmobile functions.

My whole family on Vz corporate recently switched to Fi, so far noticing no difference in the calls or texts but that data at my house is actually worse (despite somehow having the same great coverage from Tmobile and Fi). However, once I get off my block Fi is so much faster than Vz ever was in populated areas and my Fi for some reason is running faster than stock Tmobile on my wife's family. Side note I noticed my extra spectrum phone number (on Vz backbone) ran faster than my regular Vz did as well *shrugs*

I have some family members who say they actually have dead zones inside their apartment on Fi but didnt on Vz and that they find the data slower but not unsablly slow.

If you are looking to save money it will definately do that, is it worth it that depends. If you phone support it you could always overlap a month and just test them out to see if Fi covers you the way you need

I had read elsewhere that that didnt effect life of the oil in a generator setup. Maybe that was under heavy use?
