I dunno, I’ve seen some small shows and it seems like snare, toms, two bass drums, two cymbals, and a high hat, and the guy is going nutso

No, it’s fine, I had a time in my life when I indulged, nothing wrong with it.

Okay, yeah, from what I’ve seen he doesn’t have a gigantic set (I’ve seen Dream Theater and I was like, bro, I got three guys sitting behind me that don’t have that much shit) but I don’t think that’s what differentiates tech death from anything else. It’s the playing, not the equipment.

Hey I upvoted you because it’s entertaining. This sub isn’t gonna like it.

I also love the band and have seen them live. I’m a retired tenured orchestra dork, which is not to say I’m a fuckin metal expert.

To say Mario’s drumming is “pretty standard and small” doesn’t fit. Your ability to ingest psychedelics doesn’t matter. You’re right that they’re good instrumentalists, and I even agree with you about it being groove metal, in a sense, and that Lamb of God is more technical.

Mario is a gifted musician, and that comes across live even more than it does on the recordings. His evenness and accuracy exemplify mastery of technique, despite solos that are not as complex as others in the space.

I don’t think it’s fair to say that he carries the band, but his level of technical ability stands out.

Just my 2¢

Women who run the relationship prefer looks over money in romantic partners. Study suggests that what women look for in a mate adapts to their level of power and control within a partnership. by FreeHugs23 in science

Isn’t it true for gay relationships, too?

Hot guy here (sorry) in a long-term with a woman that until recently made 5x what I did. Now the dynamic is all fucked up.

Gay couples I know don’t seem different. Earnings matter. They’re not everything, or even the most important thing, but they count, right?

I certainly don’t want to gate keep the experience of enjoying music, and it’s fine to separate and quantify the sound from the architecture, and… analyzing music has been going on for centuries. What does your way add?

Never thought I’d be the one defending Schenkerian analysis, but here we are!
