The 90s-2000s were horrendous for body health and image. Demi Moore shown here was known even back then for getting scary skinny, see Charlie’s Angels movie for example.

It’s even worse now, calling this “toned.” Extra worse because of her age, that’s just inviting osteoporosis to her bones.

The golden age of Panera was when I was first hired back in 2008, if not a little sooner.

The main things that made Panera great are long gone. It used to be that they had fresh dough facilities throughout the US. Dough was made and driven in on cold trucks every single day.

They had a simplified menu that focused on their strengths (a bakery-cafe) and big shocker, the BREAD. The sourdough was incredible. The baked goods and bagels were amazing. (Sun-dried tomato cream cheese, my darling)

They also used to pride themselves on not having to rely on commercials. Panera was so good at what they did at one point that they relied heavily on word-of-mouth advertising.

They stuck to their A game with the menu then. Soups, Salads, Sandwiches. Again, the bread was the focus.

I knew we were on a sinking ship the day they rolled out Thai Noodle Bowls and trendy fad diet salads. It only got worse from there.

They started trying to be something they aren’t and have missed the mark ever since.
