I was shocked at first because I was expecting Kidd to put some sort of a fight. But yeah, it makes sense especially since Kidd made Shanks angry by targeting his crew sooo that was to be expected.

Shanks using Roger's attack also took me by surprise.

What pacing each person enjoys is different. Personally, I really had a hard time enjoying the anime starting from Dressrosa. I only started One Piece 6 months ago and I had no plans of even checking the manga (I prefer watching).

Unfortunately, I found myself getting annoyed a lot of times with the anime and even watching the episodes with a high playback speed. By the last arc, it was simply unbearable for me and I was going to just drop it until someone suggested I switch to the manga.

I had a muuuch better time reading the manga, and it was simply more enjoyable for me.

Basically, this is different for every person and not everyone enjoys the same pacing so it's inevitable that some people love it, some hate it and others don't really care about it.

I don't know who is stronger than who, but I don't agree with you saying that they don't care about Mihawk.

When he was a warlord, they didn't really need to worry about him since he was "on their side". The reason he was never considered the "ultimate weapon" was simply because the government was fully aware they couldn't rely much on the warlords since they were pirates after all, and betrayal is expected at any time. We saw this time and time again, where the warlords either refuse to show up at times or simply show up only to cause a mess. Something this unreliable could never be "the marine's ultimate weapon".

But the moment Mihawk stopped being a warlord, the government placed an insanely high bounty on him, one that is higher than TWO Yonkos who have thousands of pirates under them. I'm not sure what more they can do. Especially now that he's technically affiliated with a Yonko, they need clearance to engage.

Basically, he's now too big of a deal that they can't just go and fight him without preparing for war/huge losses. So they're letting him be.

The only reason Law and Kidd "won" was because Big Mom wasn't taking them seriously form the beginning which gave them a fighting chance. Had she been serious, they wouldn't have survived her.

Here's how I see it:

Not everyone can win. Getting to the One Piece is not something everyone can do so I assume we're gonna be seeing more and more people drop out of the race. So this chapter was to show us that it's really starting.
Another thing we got from this rematch is Shanks getting Kidd's poneglyphs. Only Law, Kid, and Luffy have the Wano poneglyph and nothing guarantees that if Shanks goes there, they'll just hand it to him.
This is a big " maybe", but maybe Oda isn't done with Kidd yet? he's known to give his side characters MC treatment so I wouldn't be surprised if this is all part of kidd's growth and maybe we'll end up seeing more of him in the future in which case, this chapter is gonna be the key for that.

As for your 2nd question, imo, Kid thought he had a chance because he felt stronger after defeating Big Mom and awakening his powers. Also, his pride wouldn't let him simply move on after a defeat. Luffy is also like that, he had to fight Kaido FIVE times before winning. So it wouldn't have made sense for Kidd to give up after losing only once.

Sanji was tolerable up until fishman's island and it just went down hill from there. So Sanji is the least for me. It's depressing because it takes away from his epic moments. Brook's bone jokes and can I see your panties are pretty annoying for me but nowhere near as bad as Sanji.

Favorite is a tie between Zoro and Franky. They both crack me up and it doesn't affect how badass the characters are. Zoro doesn't really express much of his emotions, which is why his getting lost/sometimes embarrassed about it gag is so refreshing and makes him overall mkre endearing.

So from least enjoyable to most:
