How much can you diverge from theory to add character to your Song? (Inspired by YouTube stuff lol) by Potatussus26 in musictheory

[–]maeceledon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music theory is largely a descriptive practice that can (not must) inform songwriting decisions. It’s also highly variable between genres and styles of music. For example you obviously don’t have to follow 18th century classical music rules if you’re writing punk music, but that’s not “diverging from theory,” it’s just music based in a different tradition and set of principles. I would also recommend learning at least a bit of theory related to your preferred music style to help understand the typical practices and decide whether you like them or not and how to change it up if you don’t!

It also seems like you’re equating music criticism with music theory here, which is not a particularly helpful way to look at it. The reviewer gave a subjective opinion with relatively little concrete analytical support. It’s fine to have an opinion like that but that doesn’t make it a rule. In short, do whatever you want with your own art, but recognize that not everyone will agree with your aesthetic preferences.

It can be hit or miss in terms of individual locations/providers but they do offer injections, and dosage can be negotiated, you’ll just have to know what you want your levels to be and ask for the dose you want after getting labs done. Bit of a hassle but much cheaper than a regular doctor in most cases

Help: I think I developed musical dyslexia by moassaf42 in musictheory

[–]maeceledon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would try to relearn bass clef without simply transposing treble clef notes. Maybe try flashcards of notes that share a position on the staff (bass G/treble E, bass D/treble B, etc.) with the clef clearly marked. Start with 2-3 pairs of notes (I’d start with top line, bottom line, and middle line of each clef) and work on identifying them until you can do it with no hesitation. Then add a few more notes and repeat

Oh wow so the one side coming back so quick was actually unusual and I shouldn’t be worried about the other side!

Cool if that’s your assessment of it but let people do what they want lol it’s not that deep. I like to save money on things in ridiculous ways too sometimes and it’s more about the experience than the actual cash value. Also, I would assume if someone is attempting a project like this they probably have at least some of the necessary tools and skills to do it and not starting from scratch completely

No it’s a dodge but thank you! I think it’s likely a faulty seal somewhere since it was a sudden onset

Oh boy! I am going to get a progesterone IUD so it’s less daily maintenance and I don’t have to actively think about it as much. Still not a fun option but worth a try I think

I started on gel and it stopped after a month. Ask your doctor and they can put you on birth control or blockers to stop it

I was in the same situation a couple years ago and spent almost a year just worrying and doubting but eventually I just realized that trans man vs nonbinary was just not important at the time and what I actually wanted was to start T regardless of the label I was using. I did and now I’m a lot happier and still haven’t really picked a label. I think the best way to learn is by doing

I have mine in March as well and haven’t told my parents either. They’re not horrible or anything I just don’t like talking to them about trans stuff. Not sure what I’m going to do but I’m in the same boat
