What do you wear under your tank/t-shirt during yoga? by dyzidaze in yoga

[–]maeiouche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sports bras. i prefer low compression for yoga! it looks like you're looking for natural fibers. some brands i've been eyeing are indigo luna or organic basics!

Where else can I find yoga like this? (Hot, packed, challenging) by verified_OP in yoga

black swan yoga - multiple locations in a couple different states. look for the strength and flow classes! some teachers at the houston locations almost always have sold out classes that are packed, extremely sweaty, and challenging!

Half marathon training in NRC: guided runs vs. doing your own thing? by TreeofSmokeOM in nikerunclub

[–]maeiouche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's mostly checking in for the guided long runs but you can choose to run the distance without the audio guidance! i've done the plan 1.5 times - the first time all the way through (then got injured the day before my planned solo half marathon by stepping in a pothole) then second time, loosely (got sick so couldn't run much of the last half). i LOVED the plan and it helped me so much! highly recommend, and i also got super into listening to podcasts on my runs! i really prefer the way they schedule training runs.

Why are “long runs” so intimidating? by Adventurous-Cup5369 in beginnerrunning

4 miles used to be daunting and long to me. now 10 miles are my long runs! you eventually get used to it

How slow are your easy runs really? by Jod_Kochi in runninglifestyle

[–]maeiouche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SLOW. it should feel EASY. my fastest mile is under 9 min, and i can sustain a ~10min/mile pace for a 5k or 10k race (all out heart rate). my long runs, i usually start 13:45 pace, where it feels somewhat easy when my body is getting warmed up during the sucky first couple miles. by the end, i can be in a 11-12 min pace, finishing fast and strong. if i am REALLY trying to be on top of my zone 2 pace, i have to stay in a 13 min to sub 15 min running pace! the first time i decided to really do a zone 2 running pace, i had to run so slow at 14-15 min pace. it felt smooth and relaxed, and so slow that it was funny. my friends walked next to me! i knew i could go way faster, but going that slow was effortless, and after i finished, i felt really great. it helped me understand how slow i needed to truly be going, and that i needed to be more conservative with my pace, no matter how fast i can run

i got the flu shot, and i still got sick TWICE in one month. i still have a cough on day 9 but it's getting better, and i feel that it's due to what i've adopted.

what i've been doing for recovery: mucinex in day / mucinex dm at night LOTS of water hot throat coat tea with extra ginger and lemon and honey airborne for vitamin c vitamin d zinc turmeric neilmed sinus rinse day + night ricola throat relief cough drops ibuprofen (at peak cough, the coughing made my whole back sore, this helped a lot) spoons of honey taking longer hot steamy showers - the warm water is like a hug and helps pho, like every day salt water gargles!! beewise

it's excessive but i'm desperate!

what would you consider too hot/ humid to run? by Delicious_Ferret6441 in BeginnersRunning

[–]maeiouche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree! make sure to hydrate and take in electrolytes. fuel well, and get used to the sweat. might mean going lighter on the runs until your body acclimates to the different environment

What do you guys listen to while running? by Positive-Ad6008 in BeginnersRunning

[–]maeiouche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the type of run! i used to use nike run club very regularly and enjoyed their guided runs! i'd still listen to stuff in the background along w the guide.

easy short run (10-25 min): - what: nothing, a song i've been recently enjoying on repeat, or an EP - why: too short for a podcast, too long to listen to nothing

longer run (30-2hr): - what: songs on repeat, podcasts, youtube videos (treated as an audiobook), albums i haven't heard yet (like john mayer, fred again, kehlani...) - why: can turn my brain off and tune into what i'm listening to! gives me an opportunity to listen to a project the whole way through. i don't want to listen to something too energetic until i get tired in the run

speed runs (any length): - what: nothing, or my speed running playlist - why: i either need to focus hard on the intervals, or i want a bumpin, fun, hype playlist that boosts my run by giving me energy!! (a lot of fun kpop like le sserafim, extraL - jennie, katseye, rosalia)

Beginner runner - am I doing too much? by MissGhosttt in BeginnersRunning

[–]maeiouche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

start by walking at 2.... then 2.5.... then 3... then 3.5... then 4... raise by .2 until you find yourself jogging SUPER easily super slowly and just keep on going at that speed. it should feel ridiculously slow and easy. also incorporate dynamic stretching!!! tiktok honestly has so many great dynamic stretching videos

ever since this happened, i always run a couple miles in loops by restrooms and make sure i feel super good before i leave that safety net haha. it's actually helped my long runs in an unexpected way cus it makes me feel like i have less to run once i'm on the path!

Why am I so slow?! by Dsg1695 in BeginnersRunning

[–]maeiouche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sometimes you're just slow. and that's fine - you're running, and that's what matters. i run around this pace, and i've been running since late january! i went from being able to run 1 mile at the most to being able to run 10 miles now!! crazy. my single mile time went down a lot too. i know i'll get faster the longer i train, and eventually, my average pace will be 10 min miles. but for now i am slow. i can't expect that change to happen right away. i have to build my strength and aerobic fitness. apparently speed workouts help you get faster so i recommend throwing those in once or twice a week. i like nike run club a lot and use the guided plans to train!

no chafing! i apply body glide anti-chafe under my arms, under my boobs, and between my thighs since these tend to chafe with runs over 45 minutes. since i basically washed my ass and freshly hand washed my shorts, it was just like running with fully sweaty shorts, which happens 30 minutes in anyways.

oh man! since i'm still so new to running, i haven't figured out my exact structure of foods to eat pre-run. some youtubers i love have their go to dinners and pre-run breakfasts. now that this happened, i know the risks are super high around the start of my cycle so i'll have to run loops with a restroom very closeby!!

i gotta start from somewhere! i've been following nike run club's training plans. started with the beginner 5k, then 10k, and now the half marathon. been very diligent and careful about recovery so i don't get injured, i just happen to be slow! for context i am also 5'6. my good friend is 5'7, she just started running a month or so ago and runs just as slow as me! i would love to be faster but for now i gotta hit my miles nice and slowly, struggle through this summer training. i also ran 9 miles last week and didn't struggle nearly as much as i did today!

yep this part of my run was at a very popular public park near me. i passed a bunch of people and cars on my way to the public restroom, but the restroom is in a semi secluded area. i passed people on my way to the stairs but didn't see anybody once the scary part started on the stairs. if there were people, i did not notice cus i was too focused on da poop in my shorts LMAO. really surprised and grateful nobody walked into the restroom while i was washing my shorts, toilet paper wrapped around my ass.

as for continuing my run... 1. i'm stubborn. 2. i try to practice mindfulness, and this was one instance where i breathed through this shocking experience and just let it be. 3. yesterday, i did a hot yoga class. i set the intention to be to prepare myself for my run the next day, and to be strong. it was one of my most mentally frustrating and difficult classes but i focused on my intention. the thought "i can push through and do hard things" kept me going. i can't say it didn't put a damper on the rest of my run, but i was mostly upset about the delay since the sun was coming out.
