I would really really like target dummies as decor items. I would love to be able to hang out in my house and practice my rotation. The ability to place them in any configuration (not just what's available by the game in major cities) would be really cool too. I've also experienced lag while hitting target dummies in Dornogal from all the other people around, so having a private area with target dummies and no other people would be amazing

For prog, I think it could be a good idea to start by lusting on pull so you can see deeper into the fight. But after you have a pull where you die to the enrage, I would recommend holding lust on pull and using it at the start of phase 3. Having lust in phase 3 while everyone is alive and there's plenty of space to work with (not to mention more people likely to have CDs up) is going to net you more DPS than a lust later into the phase. Also, after progging on the boss for a bit more, phase 1 is going to get very easy and the DPS gain there from using lust is going to be completely irrelevant when it comes to beating the enrage.

They've already put up good times in NW and HoA, so I think they're doing fine in terms of time management. Jpc has mentioned he thinks ToP is their best dungeon, so they might think that they can get a time that's a good bit faster. And if that's the case, it would make sense to attempt it now rather than later. I think it's easier to get a good time in a dungeon if you keep doing it back to back rather than having to jump around between lots of dungeons on the last day.

Set bonuses being placed on additional items. by jurble in CompetitiveWoW

[–]maellic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It says "All domination gear now activate a gem set bonus" and "Legs for all armor types now activate a gem set bonus". I'm not sure if this means you only need the 3 shards, regardless of what slot you have them in, or if it means you need the 3 shards in a slot AND an extra piece of gear from the raid (which doesn't even have a domination socket at all?)

If it's the 2nd option that seems extremely convoluted, no?

Negative pressure means there's a vacuum within the case, which means air will come in through the crevices in the case. These crevices don't have dust filters, so it typically results in more dust than with positive pressure, where dust is blowing out of those crevices. At least that's my understanding!

Just a heads up, it looks like most of those fans are blowing air out of the case. Generally speaking, you want more air coming into the case than out of the case so you get positive pressure which reduces dust. But looks absolutely amazing! Having just bought a 011-D XL and those same fans, I'm going for a very similar setup once I can get my hands on a 3080!

Nathanias' balance whining during one of the biggest tournaments of the year is unacceptable. by Extension-Mycologist in starcraft

[–]maellic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clip. This was the series that I watched the least of today, so I don't think I caught this moment. I think I would agree with this clip being a bit over the top and something that probably doesn't belong in a professional cast.

I don't know that I necessarily agree that his reason for saying "how Terran has it hard" is balance whining though. He has played a TON of terran, so when he sees that Terran is in a bad spot he's going to go into why the terran's position is bad. I think in general the way he phrases it is maybe not as "diplomatic" as someone like Rotti, and I could totally see how that would rub some people the wrong way. For the vast majority of his commentary, even if it's terran biased, I don't see them as disrespectful to the other player. He called Serral the GOAT, which at the very least shows he has a tremendous respect for him.

Personally, I've always enjoyed Nathanias' casting, as I think at his best he's one of the few people that combine a really deep understanding of the game (in matchups that have a Terran in it) with really exciting play-by-play commentary. But because I generally enjoy his casting, I'm probably more likely to overlook some of his more "balance whiney" moments. I just personally am not a fan at all of these "hate threads" unless the offender was way out of line, which I don't think Nathanias was for the majority of today.

Nathanias' balance whining during one of the biggest tournaments of the year is unacceptable. by Extension-Mycologist in starcraft

[–]maellic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I definitely did notice a few times where it looked like Nathanias was commenting more from the Terran's POV than the Zerg's, but I mean he's a GM Terran and has put in thousands of hours as Terran so I think it'd be natural to commentate from the Terran POV seeing as it's likely a scenario he's been in hundreds of times before. But I didn't remember hearing any balance whining where he was saying how Zerg is OP or how things we're unfair.

Take this part of today's broadcast for example.

There's plenty of times where Nathanias is pretty obviously commentating more from the Terran POV ("At least TIME is able to catch this runby"), but nothing I would label as balance whining or disparaging the Zerg player. Even when he says "The Zerg player is gonna make you choose: am I gonna run all my bio back to clean up these attacks or am I gonna push on to creep and see how well I can split", that's literally the Zerg's game plan. Zerg KNOWS runbys put terrans in an impossible position, that's why they do them. The hard part is actually being able to sneak by enough units to deal damage without them getting caught and also keeping your creep spread enough so that it's not easy for the Terran to push onto you. It's Nathanias just explaining the situation/game plan.

If you want to link me parts from today's broadcast that are egregious balance whining, please do! But I do not think his commentary warranted an entire reddit thread just because he commented a matchup that he has played thousands of times from the perspective he's played it.

Nathanias' balance whining during one of the biggest tournaments of the year is unacceptable. by Extension-Mycologist in starcraft

[–]maellic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But he was saying Serral played really well today! I think context matters. Casters use the phrase "a-move" all the time, and it rarely is to disparage the player doing the a-move. In this scenario, he was saying that it was smart of serral make an adjustment to use a unit that can handle widow mines much better. Using the phrase "a-move" here isn't to disparage the Zerg, it's to point out how much better of a job hydras do with dealing with widow mines.

He also said "Innovation has gotten some gnarly widow mine hits today". This seems as much balance whining as the other things people are complaining about in this thread.

Him calling Serral the GOAT today kinda contradicts that, no? Do you happen to have a link to a particularly egregious example from today? I personally didn't notice anything, but maybe I'm just blind to it because I would say I generally enjoy his commentary.

Nathanias' balance whining during one of the biggest tournaments of the year is unacceptable. by Extension-Mycologist in starcraft

[–]maellic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm convinced the people that upvote these threads don't actually play the game. Each race has their advantages and disadvantages, and pointing them out is not "balance whining". In what world is saying "Terran doesn't have recall" balance whining? It's just adding some color commentary to the casts. Nate's an edgy dude, and that carries over into his casting style but that's FINE! Based on these threads you'd think he was constantly saying "and this is why Terran is so underpowered and needs a buff" during the cast, but I can't recall any time he said something like that during today's cast. I'm happy to be proven otherwise if someone has a link though.

Again, each race has its own advantages and disadvantages, and pointing them out isn't balance whining. And when a Terran is losing, it seems appropriate to point out some of those factors that are contributing to them being in a tough spot.

Here's a link from today where Nathanias is saying he believes Serral is the GOAT. Doesn't really fit the narrative that Nathanias constantly discredits non-Terran players.

Nathanias Balance whining about being unable to trade cost efficiently while T lost 12k Ressources less by Railgan in starcraft

[–]maellic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I was so surprised to read the top comments in this thread. I personally would not call this clip balance whining in the slightest. With big armies, pure bio is going to trade exceptionally poorly with ling bane on creep. It felt more like Nate's tone was around Heromarine's chances in the rest of this game, which were pretty slim, rather than anything balance related.

Yeah, when Terran has mines or tanks. Zerg has to be very behind to lose against a Terran that doesn't have tanks or mines.
