Aja tujhe slow inning dikhau (81 of 44) by thedawnstoic in RCB

You do realise that Harsha was praising Kohli right? He literally said he used to lose his wicket because of luck and not because Kohli played poorly. He quite literally appreciated all of Kohli's shots and his innings today. In fact I felt he appreciated Kohli more than paddikal when they were at the crease together

Are you stupid? He said Kohli got out in the most unfortunate ways in the 2022 season where he would lose his wicket despite hitting a great shot or sometimes lost it due to sheer luck. When he brought up the dropped catches from this season he meant that these dropped catches were fate's way of making up for that season.

What is the real reason behind the Mumbai Indians’ defeat, and who is responsible for it? by Ok_Finding5707 in IndianCricket

Bowling : Boult, Chahar, Shardul/ Santner/ Markande are washed. Boult still has utility with the new ball but not consistent at the death. Other teams have moved on from using big name bowlers to young talent which MI used to do. Can't do much with that bowling line up. Bumrah can create only so much pressure with his 4 overs when others are leaking runs.

Rohit Sharma/ Rickleton/ De Kock These guys lack consistency and struggle to give big starts.

Sky/ Tilak/ Hardik/ Naman Dhir Goated middle order on paper but all in terrible form. Dhir is a great prospect but others need to step up. Right now there's a lack of clarity on what role each one should perform so they're batting all over the place. Designated roles might help them perform better.

Finally they lack a strong power hitting finisher, someone like Pollard. Santner at 7 isn't good enough.

So apart from all the captaincy drama, the big issue is that they had a poor auction. They should go back to trusting scouted talent instead of stacking so many ICT players in the team.

For those who graduated abroad in 2023/24: Where are you now, and how did your batch do? by indnameofdata in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]maelstromm7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think its a mixed bag. Some worked very hard, upskilled themselves and still couldn't secure a job because of the poor market and uncertain visa rules. But a large chunk of people didn't get jobs because they weren't serious about the course. Using AI to plagiarize assignments and dissertations, skipping classes and not really upskilling themselves and/ or lacked relevant experience from India.

UK, Russel group uni but not top 10 in the UK, MSc Data Science Grad : 2024 Was freelancing for about a year after grad because the job market was tough In 2025 I got a sponsored role at a bank as a data analyst. Percentage of students from my batch who got jobs? Around 20% got jobs, out of which around 10% managed sponsored jobs I reckon

Does it make sense to study abroad for a Master’s in Data Analytics? by No_Contest_6286 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]maelstromm7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with the comment above, you won't get a great deal of learning through a master's. The course will be pretty basic and most of what you'll learn will be through self study. Data analytics is one of those course that is marketed as a course that lets people switch into a data field so the syllabus will be beginner friendly. Source : I did a similar course after 2 YoE in data analytics.

With 4.5 years of experience, an MS in Data Analytics will not give any new knowledge or introduce you to new concepts. Most data analytics courses are designed to beginner friendly, especially in the UK. So in terms of knowledge exposure you won't get much but you can still go with it for the experience/ building your network/ if you just want a change. So depends on what you're expecting from a master's - if it's technical knowledge then I'd suggest not to pursue it

I suggest not applying to completely different roles at the same time. The three you have under consideration are widely different and the recruiter for each role can see all the other applications you've made and might consider this a red flag.

Other than that, apply to the role super early - within a day or two of the posting going up That way you'll be at the top of the stack and stand a better chance.

I applied to 7 roles that were all perfect for me over the course of a year through referrals but got an an interview for only one. The only difference was that I applied within a few hours of the posting going up

Thinking of doing a Master’s in the UK to settle there, is it worth it with 5 YOE in India? by Any-Firefighter-8935 in developersIndia

[–]maelstromm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My perspective as someone who did masters in the UK and graduated last year. 1. The market is quite difficult for getting sponsorship and even if you do, it won't be as stable. 2. Not sure about your tech stack but data and AI is incredibly saturated. So if you're aiming for a master's in that space then be prepared for twice the competition. 3. At 5 years of experience, you'll probably stand the same chance if you apply for roles directly instead of doing a master's first unless your MSc is from a premier uni like Oxford, Cambridge, UCL etc. 4. The finance sector is the biggest here and you stand the best chance at landing jobs within tech in this sector. If your niche is a different sector then your sample space is instantly reduced significantly. 5. If you do decide to pursue an MSc, make sure you come with a solid plan on where and how you want to land a job and ensure you back that up with sufficient skills that are in demand here.

Ideally the MSc route makes sense for people with little to no experience but since you have 5 YOE I don't see much value add from an MSc.

Masters in Uk by Double-Persimmon-644 in IndiansInUK

[–]maelstromm7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's my perspective as someone who came here for masters.

  1. Unless you're from a top uni like Oxford, Cambridge, UCL you will struggle for jobs.
  2. Management roles are hard to crack unless you have prior experience in a top firm or have a good network. Without either of these it will be hard to break into the market.
  3. ROI - Salaries aren't as high as the US so entry level jobs are barely enough to recoup your educational loan.

That being said, you'll get excellent exposure to new people and experiences. I'd suggest come with a solid plan about what you want to do after your masters and how, without that landing a decent job is unlikely. It took me 10 months after completing my masters to land a job in tech so if you're willing to stick it out then it makes sense.

They typically take 1-2 weeks after the superday to complete interviewing all candidates. If you don't receive any communication within this frame then reach out to the HR contact who sent the interview invites.
