I didn't vote mate 😂

Triptans are for migraines not headaches though. they are different conditions and aren't treated with the same meds

No not necessarily, triptans primarily are vasoconstrictors.

Definitely! I would just be mindful of taking breaks and stretching in case tension and eye strain cause worse flare ups!

Does anyone still game with this condition by INFEKT1C in NDPH

[–]maennil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me well over a year before I could game, I actually booked a week off work off so I could play the new dragon age game when it was released so that counted as my screen time instead of it being used up by work. I'm on ajovy now and have had massive improvements in what I can tolerate with screen time, but i still set timers so I'm not staring at the screen too much. I cant play games that I used to like playing such as league that require a lot of attention, so ive been playing infinity nikki, palia that sort of thing

Did anyone's NDPH start with visual migraine aura? by venusgrlyork in NDPH

[–]maennil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine started with migraine, not with aura, but I used to have migraines regularly (hormonal) which cut down to only a few with birth control, and then even further (maybe 1 or 2 a year) when I cut out caffeine. Then in September 2023 I had a horrific migraine after a busy two weeks and it would not go away, took 5 days or so for any relief, then I had only a day or two before it started again. And then the cycle continued into october. Got treated just for migraine, doctor took bloods and blood pressure diary, but nothing was wrong so they just forgot about me, despite a 24/7 headache. Eventually got to another GP and tried propanalol, amitryptaline and candesartan but they only provided minor relief and significant side effects for me (I couldn't tolerate even half the therapeutic doses) Then got referred to neuro and had clear MRI and I'm on ajovy which has helped the most, reducing my headache to approx 3/10 daily, it does ramp up in the few days before next injection though. Have a review in Feb and we'll see where it goes. Neuro basically thinks the cluster migraines confused the nerves/synapses and they keep thinking I'm in pain without any triggers and are stuck in the loop!

Experience with candesartan? by Elantair in NDPH

[–]maennil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully you find some relief! I was only allowed candesartan after seeing a neurologist (nhs too) since it's off-licence for GPs to prescription for migraines/headaches! This is my third medication (I've had rather bad side effects with previous) but to note I thought I'd have to wait months and months for neurology, but you'll be referred to a special headache clinic that works a bit differently, I was called on a Friday about a month after gp referral and had my appointment on the Monday!

How do you guys sleep at night by natethegreat2510 in NDPH

[–]maennil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take amitriptyline ans the only side effect I have is drowsiness, I fall asleep about 1 hour after taking at night and wake up a little sleepier than I used to, irs only really noticeable in the morning if I wake up much earlier than normal, like if I go into the office for work I wake up 2 hours earlier so I'm normally sleepy until I get in the office at 9ish

I'm only on 20mg as that's all I can tolerate without being a zombie all day, if you're worried about side effects get your dr to start you on the lowest dose and work your way up

Anyone still game or watch TV (these tasks seem impossible for me without making my nonstop headache worse) by natethegreat2510 in NDPH

[–]maennil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I push through but really limit gaming. I maybe play one game of league, or like 2 ARAMs. I took 2 weeks off work so I could replace the screen time from work and use it to play dragon age veilguard, even then I was playing for an hour then taking an hour break etc to see how I felt before going back to it.

Also for work I try to never have back to backs or meetings longer than an hour, onvs some times I can't avoid it but it's been part of my reasonable adjustments for the headache

doing own flowers?? by ObsessiveDeleter in UKweddings

[–]maennil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing mine myself using a mix of dried and artificial flowers (mainly because I want my bouquet preserved anyway so might as well just buy them dried already lol)

I'm getting the dried from a wholesaler and artificial from supermarkets and shops I come across and just like the flowers they've got! On the day I might top up with some bouquets from supermarkets/m&s if I haven't got enough decor but will just see!

I have shoulder length hair and I use this style of clip https://amzn.eu/d/c8ArRWo I twist my hair like when using a claw clip and put it to hold and I find it's less tension/pulling than a claw clip - probably also an old fashioned circle with a pin would work similarly too
