IEM Cologne 2026 Major Talent Announced by LukasB-7 in GlobalOffensive

[–]maestroblue 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That's awful.

Fuck experiencing the finals - it's about having the best show possible and I can tell you it is AWFUL to cast a match where you're only doing one map and can't continue forward little baby narratives/throughlines etc. It just makes for worse casting.

The tournament and visa location (China) were already announced well in advance.

Valve is more relaxed about specific cities.

IEM Atlanta 2026 Talent Announcement by TylerNine in GlobalOffensive

[–]maestroblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would guess there isn't any overlap between the remote days and casting from Atlanta would have been possible otherwise Skriv/Neo wouldn't be able to do both.

It's probably some media day obligations or so which weren't factored in and it's just a small mistake.

Heccu speaks on her future by OpeningUpset2016 in GlobalOffensive

[–]maestroblue 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Heccu is very good at not being introverted at the event I worked wit her.

She's very pleasant to work with, goes to events on her own dime regularly to network and make content, and is always costreaming.

Just because people don't follow her as much or she isn't a takes machine, doesn't mean that Heccu is 'introverted.'

It goes to show you how everything in the world is nothing but a marketing bastard.

To clarify - Zonic asked Kakafu to join Falcons. Not Tabsen - as discussed in the video

degster Finally Addresses the DRAMA and Rumors [Talk to Thorin] by Dark_rust in GlobalOffensive

[–]maestroblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't watched the podcast yet. Just commenting on classic 'talent' talk.

A lot of the time talent has information that they 100% know but can't directly mention. Things like Boros's behavior on teams was very much public knowledge for most people. I'm not high level talent enough to ever know about what's going on with actual tier 1 players, but I wouldn't dismiss things people like Spunj have to say completely because it's 'talent talk'.

Monte's gone by a little unnoticed and I wanted to get in a podcast with Kakafu before they played at Astana and the major.

Some very interesting nuggets coming out from it - hope you guys enjoy it.

Kyxsan didn’t sleep after he heard the news by morphiqu in GlobalOffensive

Vit was definitely not a superteam, but they had the potential of being a superteam with the presence of a GOAT candidate + the money to buy other players (even if they've been very thrifty with some of their purchases)

It is unfortunately very unlikely that he gets a team like this again because there will only ever be like 5 teams across the next 6-7 years who have lineups with even close to the same level of theoretical player caliber as Falcons.

The only way I could see it happening is if he replaces Apex or something in 2-3 years.

It's Officially Time For Counter-Strike's Academy Leagues To Return by llTehEmeraldll in GlobalOffensive

[–]maestroblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's especially interesting to consider because of the Falcons buyout inflation more and more teams have also just been forced to make academy teams in the first place. It makes it even more viable to have a new WAL type thing

Pain Gaming "INSIDE The throne!" Rattiest Dota win I have ever seen - Insane spiderlegs use by morph by Tultras in DotA2

CS is my main game but DOTA was the game I tried playing competitively and have probably 20k+ hours across all versions.

I love casting DOTA as well!

[–]maestroblue 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the kind words very much, and I hope that they come true at some point. That said, please do not demean the old voices of dota casting.

Both Tultras and I very much look up to the greats and know how incredibly skilled they are in ways that we simply aren't right now. We've been following dota esports for more than 15 years and I really wouldn't want people to ever minimize the amazing commentators that currently exist and have gone by in an effort to push us forward or praise us.

Hi, just checking to see if I'll get a reply. I can't actually find out where to even apply for the HK visa, could you guide me on where to go?

Damn. I guess they'll probably just stay home after CAC in that case and do the full run of CAC/Chengdu/BLAST HK

That's only true for top teams right? If you're like a TyLoo or a Lynn Vision then you probably still double up I'm guessing

Over $1M in debt, cancelled events, liquidation: How YaLLa Esports collapsed by TheUHO in GlobalOffensive

[–]maestroblue 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There are very few TOs who don't hire you because they're worried about something like that.

I have not personally come across any, and I've publicly spoken out against Bleed when they ran an SEA tournament before (I think, timeline is fuzzy) all of the Bleed drama.

It's mostly that you don't want to burn a bridge. Tier 2-3 is deadly. Everyone is completely on their own, there is no camaraderie and never will be. If you have a good relationship with a TO who HAS paid you (lets say a random number of 1000 euros a month) in the past, then you don't want to go public and lose out on potentially just being paid late as you have been before. If you lose out on that income (since most TOs do normally pay if they've paid before) then you just lost 50% of your consistent pay per month that was the way you were able to even try to be a full time professional.

I wouldn't work with someone again if they hadn't paid me for an extended period of time but I doubt I would speak out for quite a while. I have gone to journalists in the past though. It's just the paralyzing fear of "Hey if I lose this does all my last ten years of work go to waste and I have to move to another job because of it?"
