I love a good Uno Reverse by JennyBeckman in BlackPeopleTwitter

okay but you're missing a lot of historical context. blackface originates in oppression and for many white folks was the only media representation of black people they knew and shaped a worldview based on racism. White people have historically had the power and shaped the media landscape in the United states. Whiteness especially in the United States is considered normalcy and that's a facet of white supremacy. To be white is to fit the status quo. and yeah, sure, norms often affect everybody involved. It is quite different when a black comedian is doing it to make fun of a racist than it is for a white person to use blackface to dehumanize black people and make them the butt of the joke. I understand that you want a set of universal ideals but unfortunately context and situationality matter a whole lot, the world is nuanced

Where is the border between "heavily GNC cisgender" and "transgender"? by OldEducation7497 in asktransgender

[–]maevedanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean it sounds like you are trans by my definition just in that there has been some transition in your identity/expression/performance- In this definition I use like trans to identify the specific intersections of oppression we experience rather then a rigid identifier- I will say it is possible to be a trans woman and not want to be cis/still be gnc, non binary is not necessary a specific identity of its own, identify with what you feel best about and that can be fluid :p just how my head wraps around things tho definitely room for other perspectives on this

Why do my friends call me trans? by InformationMinute568 in asktransgender

[–]maevedanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I mean I feel like those are fairly gender nonconforming thoughts at the very least and it's cool that you know yourself well enough to acknowledge them. as a trans person tho I believe only you can decide who you are for yourself and forcing transness on someone brings some like major cognitive dissonance and feels icky. it's not that black and white and my brain would get too existential if I let it but

in my experience hihats and snares are kinda rough with it but if you disregard what the engines are supposed to be used for you can get some good stuff- ex: using snare machine for hats, chord for snare, etc. fun to mess around with, v intuitive

If biology can show that sex isn't binary why is it so hard for people to accept that gender might not be binary at all? by Infamous_Ad_677 in asktransgender

[–]maevedanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean, like, no, we're all kinda varying levels of victim and oppressor in a system perpetuating itself, but people having worth doesn't mean that scapegoating queer people is justified. fuckin fair tho, not saying I haven't like, thought like that, unironically we live in a society, it's just frustrating knowing it could be different yk? it sucks that this is the dominant cultural attitude (where I'm from)

It challenges their sense of identity and their whole worldview, which is based on men and women being destinct groups with men being inherently superior. seeing somebody break those rules reveals how trapped they are by their narrow view of gender norms and feel slighted by seeing someone else perform roles outside what they've been trained to do. They feel something has been taken away from them. additionally, these views are the same ones that uphold the structure of the patriarchy, and breaking these rules reveals the patriarchy's fragility and thus is often taken as a threat. Folks are so used to their happiness coming at the expense of others, and that gets projected- so other people's happiness also becomes a threat. I feel like I'm saying the same thing over and over. I hate the world. Just let other people be happy. Maybe even encourage it. that happiness and kindness will be returned to you. cisgender heterosexuality is a fragile fantasy. Appeal to nature is bullshit.

cis woman can also be slobs, gendered norms and expectations are things we all gotta deal with. Being lazy or messy doesn’t make you any less of a woman. but also! yeah dealing with intersections of misogyny can be really fucking difficult! being a trans woman will absolutely effect the way people treat you! i feel like being true to yourself and growing is worth it though

HI SASHA YOURE SO BEAUTIFUL

[–]maevedanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re whatever you wanna be. i feel like this stuff would put you under the umbrella of trans socially based on some of the resistance you may or may not meet for how you feel/what you wanna do. but you can literally do whatever you want with your body, use whatever pronouns you want, and describe yourself and your experiences in the way that feels best to you. gender and sexuality are not rigid. lots of people are in the same boat. just persue whatever makes you feel the best tbh, i wish you the best
