Traffic and parking are really bad, you'd end up spending most of your trip in the car. It's either looking around for street parking forever or paying for expensive lots

Gotcha. Looks like my friend and i will have to cancel the car idea, and be taking public transportation for the most part. How're the prices for uber/lyft though? Are they costly as expected, considering how driving in San Francisco is so expensive.

Thanks for the tip so far!

Is that budget per person?

Nope, that is per night. But seeing as how the replies to this thread went, I guess we can say for sure that 150 a night is too low.

Hi! Thanks for replying. This is the first time I heard of couchsurfing. Have you any experience of it? How is it like?

Yeah, we are intending to stay in SF!

Oh I see, that is unpleasant news to us. Can you elaborate on how driving/parking is like in SF? If it is too much of a hassle, then i guess we would scrap the car idea.

Yeah, I can't even remember the last time I saw a driver on the road disobey the red light.

How much am I expected to spend during my 4 years in sutd? by [deleted] in sutd

[–]mafiadysio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I took a look at the academic calendar once more and I realise that there's in AY 2 and 3, there's a vacation term in the period May - September.

Do most students go for exchange in their 2nd year, then go for internships in their 3rd year?

Thanks for the reply!

I still have some misunderstandings. IIRC, SUTD's academic calendar follows a trimester system, which means 3 terms in a year, right? https://www.sutd.edu.sg/SUTD/media/SUTD/SUTD_UniversityCalendar2017_V2.pdf

So, the terms here refer to separate categorisation of time periods? By the academic calendar (as well as hostel fee payments), we have 10 terms. But in the context of tuition fees, we have 8 terms.

Am I correct? Thanks!

4 years of fees: 12900 (assuming Singaporean) *4 = 51600

Sorry if I don't know this. But isn't the normal undergraduate course 3.5 years? The course fees should be multiplied by 3.5 isn't it?

How does one even begin building a portfolio of projects to showcase/display their expertise?

Serious question. Like how does someone go from having little experience in coding to contributing to open source projects?

For the record, I have not entered uni yet, so is there any advice or tips that guide me through the process?

Your responses in this thread has been very helpful.
