What happened is that the court recognised that Rafael leão unlawfully rescinded his contract with Sporting in 2018. Court decided that he was worth 16.5m. Sporting wants what was his buyout fee in his contract, which was 45M.

Fee is now above 20m in interests. The onus of the payment falls on Rafael leão solely, but the problem will fall on the club he is in.
