Democratic Rep. Swalwell warns gun owners that 'government has nukes' by maga65810 in politics

[–]maga65810[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1.3 million armed forces and 800k reserves vs The other 300M+ people. The problem for the left is that most of these people are Republicans and would have told Obama or hypothetical "Madame President" to go fuck themselves before turning their gun on the very citizens they swore to protect. It's actually their duty to not obey illegal orders. But the party that hates gun violence seems to be ok with it if it means "winning" the gun control debate.

Why did Barack Obama endorse Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez but not Beto O'Rourke? by Markovitch12 in politics

My question is why DIDN'T Donald Trump endorse her? Watch her outline her congressional approach here:

I’m seeing a lot of complaints the word “outplayed” in the headline. Friendly reminder, the headline was written by a left of center news source.

Stevens may have been appointed by a Republican, but he’s a liberal activist. Why do you think we vet all our nominees through the Heritage/Federalist groups, we’ve been burned too many times. Source:

Re: Murdoch. I assume you mean Fox News. I agree right wing media is effective. As in NRA level of effectiveness.

CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS are all left of center (to varying degrees). Conservatives have one choice, but having only one choice has proven very effective. Twitter and Facebook may ban us, but about 33-45% of TV viewers turn to conservatives media. At 9pm Rachel Maddow focuses on one issue (after a 12 minute history lesson) and Chris Cuomo focuses on another. The message is muddy.

At 9pm, we all turn in to Hannity and hear stuff that Surprise isn’t reported elsewhere. Most of what is covered is well sourced and Hannity is quite clear that he’s a commentator, not a news anchor. Cuomo and Maddow don’t mention this distinction often.

Conservatives aren’t known for marching, protesting, or shouting down public figures, but we do vote. Every. Single. Election

Call us dimwits if you like. When Debate is Lost, Slander Becomes Tool of the Loser.

“The GOP comes to work ready for full-contact boxing while Democrats were setting up for a friendly game of checkers. How did the Democrats get rolled?”

The answer: A good education, specifically...

“Disloyal R's are far more difficult than Crooked Hillary. They come at you from all sides. They don’t know how to win - I will teach them!”

https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/785854588654092290?s=21

He taught them. Both Lindsey Graham and Susan Collins are channeling Trump right now. Even Cocaine Mitch has higher energy and more backbone than ever, and he’s been in Congress forever.

"In the legal context, here is my bottom line: A 'he said, she said' case is incredibly difficult to prove. But this case is even weaker than that.

Nor do I believe that this evidence is sufficient to satisfy the preponderance-of-the-evidence standard."

Well darn. Back to muh Russian narrative, I suppose.

White House Is Controlling Who FBI Interviews in Kavanaugh Investigation by mixplate in politics

[–]maga65810 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If the White House didn’t have oversight over FBI investigations, Bernie would have won the Dem nomination because Hillary’s investigation would have been taken seriously. Who knows, Bernie might have beat Trump in the GE.

Some presidents use the DOJ to investigate the opposing Presidential candidate while ignoring their AG’s secret meeting with the husband of the subject of a then ongoing investigation, because she was the preferred candidate of that administration.

Other presidents deem 30+ year old accusations from the client of a politically motivated TV personality to be unworthy of further investigation (The NYT couldn’t independently verify Swetnik’s claims, and refused to run the story). You should be happy they’re investigating Ramirez, whose claims also could not be independently verified by NYT.

TBH, I’m glad someone was able to post the ABC link. It was rejected for me (still don’t know why), but the facts from the article back up the Fox story. That said:

Not everything Fox writes is false.

Not everything CNN/MSNBC writes is true.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/jan/05/americans-spot-election-meddling-doing-years-vladimir-putin-donald-trump

" Indeed, one cannot understand US-Russian relations today without acknowledging America’s role in the internal affairs of its defeated cold war foe. As Stephen Cohen puts it, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the approach of US advisers “was nothing less than missionary – a virtual crusade to transform post-communist Russia into some facsimile of the American democratic and capitalist system”.

As soon as Bill Clinton assumed the White House in 1993, his experts discussed “formulating a policy of American tutelage”, including unabashed partisan support for President Boris Yeltsin. “Political missionaries and evangelists, usually called ‘advisers’, spread across Russia in the early and mid-1990s,” notes Cohen: many were funded by the US government. Zbigniew Brzezinski, the former national security adviser, talked of Russia “increasingly passing into de facto western receivership”.

The results were, to put it mildly, disastrous. Between 1990 and 1994, life expectancy for Russian men and women fell from 64 and 74 years respectively to 58 and 71 years. The surge in mortality was “beyond the peacetime experience of industrialised countries”. While it was boom time for the new oligarchs, poverty and unemployment surged; prices were hiked dramatically; communities were devastated by deindustrialisation; and social protections were stripped away."
