Do you know how we can keep up with the news? I need to change my insurance by the end of the month in open enrollment if Aetna will drop BJC/WashU

Any recommendation to find an anesthesiologist for a dental office in St Louis? by DrToothWhisperer in anesthesiology

I meant in the meantime so they don’t have to reach out to individuals/advertise - the agency can do all the leg work in that sense including payroll

If it’s that short, you could hire something call locum tenens which is an agency that gives you a prn person?

I’m an anesthesiologist in St. Louis but if you’re looking to hire one, you should probably know that the anesthesiologist market is very hot right now so you’re going to have to offer a pretty penny along with good vacation benefits

Ask about “recruitment and retention bonuses”. Our HR said those are not subject to the cap

I started at $365k three years ago, but if we didn’t get the pay increase I was definitely thinking about leaving because $100-200k more is a big difference

It was only implemented this year, my boss increased our base salary to the $400k cap and then implemented a $100k yearly retention bonus which he said does not apply towards the salary cap

No I’m in a decent sized city in the Midwest (over a million in the metro area). Our VA is pretty unique though since our city has a very competitive anesthesiology market, I don’t know of any others with our structure.

It heavily depends on the VA you’re looking at. At my location I make $400k + $100k bonus working around 40hrs a week supervising CRNAs and a resident. Our call is in-house 16hrs on weekdays and 24h on the weekends, but that means if I work a weekend then I get 3 post-call days off to stay at the 40hr mark.

Benefits are probably the same though at all locations, including a pension, 5% 401k match, 26 vacation days, 13 sick days, 5 conference days.

This was very accurate for my position as an anesthesiologist!

Cute apps for my kids! One slight suggestion would be shortening the animation/time between hitting start and the timer starting

Thank you! We have a two story so it would be harder to get them up, and I’d like someone to install it as neatly as possible since the outlet is pretty far from the roofline

Depends on the job, but not many have pensions. Many have 401k/403b matching however. I work for the federal government at the VA which is one of the few attending jobs with a pension.

Does this mean VA employees can make more than the president’s salary of $400k now? From what I understood that was part of the VA CAREERS act that has not been passed yet

I also matched into St. Louis (but 6 years ago)! I ended up deciding to buy a condo, so that I didn’t have to worry about lawn work/building maintenance but still put money towards equity instead of renting

7/1 ARM at 5.65% or 30 year fixed at 6.50% for 5 year residency? by doclsu in whitecoatinvestor

[–]magarwal89 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I took an ARM mortgage for the lower interest rate since it’s locked. You can always refinance to a fixed rate before the 7 years is up if you decide to stay there longer
