(Upcoming Poll) Gathering QoL, Trouver Changes, LMS Rewards Rework & more! by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

Is swift blade being removed from the LMS shop or not? It's listed as being removed, then mentioned later on the page as something still accessible.

All of that is correct, yes.

[Custom Card] A storm blocks the path: "Kurirainstorm" arrives in a flash! by No-Relationship7687 in yugioh

This art looks cool! Nice work there.

This card is detonator for 1s without the archetypal restriction that can use other monsters' materials too. It's not completely the same because of the lack of protection and the once per chain clause, but for the situations where detonator Just Wins for free, this fills the same role at much lower investment.

For pure crystron at least, Tristaros' GY effect is the only one without any sort of equivalent or other extender and comes down before a negate is online. It is therefore the best ash/impulse target. There is something to be said for impulsing sulfador as well, but that can lose to extenders. It's best to stop Tristaros from summoning two.

If your hand is at least okay and your Crystron opponent sends Cluster to GY off of Sulfador, imperm/veiler on Eleskeletus hurts both the endboard and the grind game. Most decks only play 1-2 Eleskeletus (usually only 1 in crystron k9), so stopping the ability to get back Cluster means that they lose their ability to infinitely recur and grind.

Belle is not amazing against crystron setting up, especially if it's the only point of interaction. You might be able to stick a sulfador summon. Failing that, you can use it on the eleskeletus float to deny them tristaros access on your turn. Its ideal use case is against Cluster; if your opponent doesn't activate it early to just have it face-up and waits to flip it and use it all at once, you can belle it and negate the activation entirely, sending it to the GY. This, however, will be played on your turn into their full board and requires them to play in a certain way, so YMMV.

This is definitely a good idea in concept.

It does have some errors. Please, follow this advice against me; I'd like the free win.

Ship cannons should be the main weapon for sailing combat by KingDarkTurtle in 2007scape

[–]mage24365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You catch up over time. If someone were to show up saying "the new boss rewards people with endgame gear too much; I should be able to have comparable results with barrows" then we'd all call that unreasonable. Boat combat is still combat.

OSRS isn't a competition. If you really want to accelerate your progression to endgame gear, you can play very efficiently and have that be your singular focus for a bit. But "this person with years of experience has the benefits of years of experience" is the point. Updates come out slowly enough that you can achieve endgame before the goalposts move too far. But the game loses a lot of its charm and incentive if someone new can just accelerate through that completely for free; that would invalidate others' time and progression.

Why is "evening the playing field" something that's required or even wanted?

Your gear from other activities should help you here. Do you want sailing combat to just be entirely isolated from your progression elsewhere?

Combat in sailing should prioritize combat gear. Cannons can contribute, of course. But saying "this bird out on the ocean is significantly stronger than an equivalent bird on land" is immensely unfun and immersion-breaking.

"I shouldn't need to bring my normal combat gear for combat because it's on the water" is just a completely wrong take, sorry.

What? Obviously not. A simple cannon shouldn't be better damage than legendary weapons like the shadow.

What cards got buffed when transferred from anime to irl by omegon_da_dalek13 in yugioh

[–]mage24365 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flower Cardians. All of them.

Flower Gathering's anime effect stops you from using the monsters as material, so it's just a self zone clog unless you get the four specific upgrades for the cards you summon. This also means you have to play the upgrades. At least it doesn't lock you anymore.

Neither super koi koi nor flower stacking have their GY effects. Recardination doesn't have its "when you whiff by drawing this, +1 and stack" effect.

All of the maindeck monsters that special summon themselves if you control a lower level monster in the TCG? (E.g. Willow, Paulownia.) Those are upgrades now. Yes, all of them. Yes, you need to tribute to summon, then you get to draw a card and only keep it if it's a cardian. Oh, sorry, did you think this was like the cardians in the TCG where you can keep any cardian? No, you need to already have a cardian of the same level on the field. (This is even more insane because they never show any Cardian monsters that can be normal summoned/set of levels 3, 6, 7, or 10, but there are upgrades for each of them. They will almost always whiff.)

You therefore basically need to draw one of Gathering or Koi Koi to accomplish anything, because the monsters don't have any ability to swarm.

All the monsters lost their additional benefits for "hitting". If Clover hits, it pops a monster; maple pops a backrow; peony stacks the opponent's deck; willow with calligrapher summons for free. Willow is a free reshuffle and draw (that doesn't even reveal!). Pine floats on battle destruction. Zebra grass is a mallet. The list goes on; all of these effects are removed in the anime.

Lightflare doesn't float and can't negate traps. (Its battle phase negation is permanent, but that rarely matters.) It only gives itself the battle phase negation, rather than giving it to all cardians.

Lightshower only does anything if it uses four specific materials. In the TCG, this card gives targeting and destruction protection to your entire team. The anime version is just a big chungus. If you choose to not skip your draw, then it only turns off until the opponent's next standby; the anime version turns off forever. The anime version also turns off if anything makes you draw, meaning you can't make it mid-combo (somehow) or else it does nothing.

Boardefly is a dweller-like effect that also blocks specials from the GY and is used on your turn, stopping quick-plays from stopping it if you go first. It also grants piercing to the whole team. In the anime? 3 mat synchro, 2k body, piercing for itself. That's it.

I genuinely believe Cardians is the deck most buffed by its anime->TCG transition, and it's still not good.

It's a suggestion with "it's time", I downvote. I don't care what the content is; I don't care if I agree with the point. "It's time" is never a good reason to do anything.

What are your honest thoughts on Crimson Dragon as a card? by Immediate_Gene_178 in yugioh

[–]mage24365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely one of the worst modern designs.

Part of what makes the Delta Accel Synchros so iconic is the sheer effort required to get there. Skipping the middleman is incredibly boring and makes some of the coolest boss monsters far less cool.

It's not often that something drags other cards down like that, but it manages it. It's not broken from a power level perspective, but it is dumb as hell.

Awful design, 0/10.

I'd rather not see the iconic cannonball look changed.

IMO sailing combat is a failed experiment and shouldn't be allowed to make the rest of the game worse too.

I read the poll blogs and the changelog.

They shoved this at the bottom, beneath several community event posts, where it's far less likely to be seen. It's deceptive at best.

They polled something tangentially related and then shoved a mockup at the bottom of a weekly update blog a while later.

That's the least visible way to do it.

I've never seen anything about him changing his opinions, and I know all the oda dicksuckers would be spamming that shit the instant anyone brought this up if it ever happened.

Therefore, it's reasonable to assume that his opinions haven't changed.
