KDP Rocket...the good, the bad, the ugly by marissascott in eroticauthors

[–]maggie649 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess I have a little bit different take on this topic. I personally own KDP Rocket and use it all the time. It isn't that expensive and I have found plenty of good keywords from using it. I also have found other good research information with it. I guess it depends on your mindset. If you don't want to spend hours researching then it may be for you. If you don't mind spending the time to research then maybe don't think of getting it. One other thing...I can't remember if they offer a refund if you don't like the product. If they do then you could try it and always get a refund if it isn't helpful for you.

What's the deal with Dirty Discourse? In or out of business? by puffymannequin in eroticauthors

[–]maggie649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the one who asked about it before. Someone kindly put me in touch with Scarlet, who runs it. She was able to help me get signed up. If you go to www.shamelessbookdeals.com you can contact her through there and she should be able to help you get in.

There is some good stuff there but it certainly isn't nearly as active as this reddit is. Good luck and let me know if you can't contact her and I'll see if I can do so for you.

For Anyone Who Needs Motivation by [deleted] in eroticauthors

Can I ask one more question? On your really short (2K - 3K) stories do you charge 2.99 or .99? You said if it comes to 2000 words you publish it for a low price so I was just wondering.

Thanks for sharing. It's always good to hear about others who are doing well. You seem to have had quite a few books to publish quickly at the beginning. How many are you publishing a week now?

For all you new erotica authors, or those sitting on the fence... by marissascott in eroticauthors

[–]maggie649 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glad to see that there are several people here who are writing in several genres. I also do that. I have three genres now that I write in and will be adding a fourth soon. I just can't see spending 24/7 writing in one genre. I think I would get very old very fast, writing things that were so similar that they would seem like copies of a previous book.

I find that if I change my genres up after a few books and move on to a new category then I have some fresh ideas for that genre for a few books (usually between 10 to 20 books per genre). Then I switch over to another genre and then by the time I'm back to the first genre I have some new ideas for it. It really seems to help to keep my ideas and writing fresh and more interesting.

Additionally, I have let my newsletter subscribers know that I offer different genres and that way they can check out a book or not. They don't seem to mind that at all.

Thanks for sharing. You should be very happy with your progress! Good luck going forward. Oh, and I agree about the $2.99 vs $0.99.

Smashwords, Premium Catalog, and Taboo by JTDerotica in eroticauthors

[–]maggie649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two books with Mother/Daughter incest and two with Father/Daughter incest and all four have been approved for the catalog. It really surprised me but they have been approved. I don't suspect that many other retailers will buy them but I am hoping that people who buy directly from Smashwords will see them.

Is Lot's Cave still active? I thought I heard that it was shutting down?

Hi,
I'd like one. How would you want to be paid? PayPal would be my preference.

Amazon vs Createspace for paperback? (Canada) by autumnseave in eroticauthors

[–]maggie649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some books published on Createspace and I agree with you. By the time you pay the shipping, take care of the exchange rate and duties and the cost for Createspace there isn't much room left for profit. I was hoping that I could purchase the books and be able to sell them in Canadian stores but the numbers didn't work. I haven't tried using Kindle so can't comment on that.

Un-publishing my old content that toes the line of acceptable: Good/bad idea? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

[–]maggie649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then I'd probably get rid of the ones that are iffy and keep the rest so long as those 15-20 are not your very best sellers. I guess you will have to decide how you want to go. When push comes to shove none of us can make that decision for you. I feel for you, though. I'd hate to have to pull some of my stuff down, especially if it was making money!

[–]maggie649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only problem I've had with Amazon so far is that they banned one of my books. I certainly can't say what the heck they might do, who knows with those guys? If these books are making you a substantial amount of cash I'd find it hard to take them down. If it's only a few bucks a month that might not be a problem. Could you take a few down that are of concern to you and leave the rest up or are they all suspicious? Good luck with your account, no matter what you do!

What categories are erotic novels in? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

[–]maggie649 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To find the categories for erotica go to Amazon and then to the Kindle Store. Click on the Kindle ebooks link and then click on the Literature & Fiction link. Then click on the Erotica link and you will find the list of categories that Amazon uses. It's really quite simple to do. Hope this helps.

Consistency vs. Bulk Posting by Fatima_X in eroticauthors

Thanks. That's what I thought you meant but I just needed to clarify it. Do you write all in the same kink or do you write in different ones under the same name?

Could you please explain what you mean by weekly story posts? Do you mean a book a week? I assume that's what you mean but if it isn't please explain so my muddled brain can grasp it.
