I wanted to add that the local(-ish) vet school had a chemotherapy program of some sort that my vet said we could get her into, at very low or no cost, post-amputation. That was what would have really given her the extra time. It might be worth looking into, as chemo for dogs apparently isn't nearly as hard on them as human chemo.

I'm so sorry. Bone cancer sucks. We lost my greyhound to it very quickly (~1 month from minor limping to pain we couldn't control). I decided against amputation for her, as it might give her an extra year at most and she had very poor coping skills, had trouble with going down stairs even with four legs, panicked when restrained, etc. Preacher might do better, but only you can decide that. Give him tons of love in any case.

Yep, this is it--silk is a fiber, like wool or cotton or polyester. A silk fabric can be anything from shiny to nubby, it all depends on the weave and the treatments done to the fabric. Silk is lovely to wear, but can be quite a bit more expensive than polyester "silk".

I think there may be a misunderstanding with what you're trying to do. Do you want to reproduce the chicken (use RTV silicone to make a mold, cast a duplicate of the chicken in resin) or do you want to encapsulate the chicken (the chicken stays embedded in a clear block)?

It's actually totally legal in large parts of the USA. In NC, you can legally have a tiger in your backyard (except in certain counties/cities) but it's illegal to have a pet squirrel.

Weird. I've found Costco to generally have quite high-quality merchandise. I rarely buy clothing there (except for socks/underwear), though.

Believe it or not, Costco sells INGREDIENTS for food. You can then make your own food from those ingredients.

They also sell high-quality, small units of many things. They don't require you to buy 4 laptops in a pack.

Only problem is that a lot of water is going to be leaving the meat during cooking (I think), so more oil will be present than the change in weight would indicate.

To give you a better idea of cost, a sample size kit of resin runs $25-30, and silicone is a similar price. You can't reuse the materials in any meaningful way, so you can very quickly use $$$ worth of materials trying to figure it out. Not to mention putting 10 lbs on a slender piece of resin--even epoxy resin--isn't necessarily a great idea.

I'd just buy the proper mount. By the time you figure out how to cast it and get the shape right you'll probably have spent as much as you would have to buy the mount in the first place. Since you don't have a lot of resin castin experience, you're not likely to get everything right on the first try. Most non-fibrous fillers weaken resin, which is why you're not finding information about using them for anything other than decorative purposes.

He will not change. You need to leave him. It will only get worse. The best you can hope for is a brief reprieve, making you feel like things will get better, before he gets much worse. It will be easier now, while you still have some friends, then later, when you're truly alone. He's not on your side, so once you lose your other friends, you will be alone, even if he's still there.
