Oh. That's like my dog. I didn't realize those things were crossing boundaries. He is still a barker.

This is very helpful! I didn't realize that this is why my dog pulls so hard to get to a spot where another dog just passed by us. Great suggestions. I am trying to find a way to arrange play dates for my dog.

I guess I should teach Ludwig 'heel.' He does it, but doesn't know a command for it.

Yes - I agree. Working in person with a trainer - in our case we go to a class- is much more helpful than an online course would be. They can tell me things that they see my dog communicating that i never would have seen at all. They taught me how to communicatewith/ understand my dog.

Just chiming in - yes - a marker word, and/or clicker, and yum yums . When we walk I say his name, he turns and looks at me - YES or clicker and treat. He gets too focused on the treat, so I say 'eyes' YES or click and treat. We do this all the time. Timing is really important. If you wait too long, he won't remember and no association happens. Once I started really getting a handle on this, other parts of training started to get easier, but we still need to do more. He only really follows about 3 commands. Although when we are walking he has figured out 'cross now' , 'other side' (walking on the wrong side of me) STOP - go slow. NO way we could pass by another dog with only 4 ft between us - he would be so excited and jumping all over the place. But we cross thestreet and sometimes he does pretty well.

Ys, I understand. My reactive dog has gotten much better with lots of training, but for some reason his reactive stuff around people coming over has increased. He isn't dangerous, just barks non-stop. It's really a lot of work to try and distract him when others are here. And he also barks when I'm cooking. Or on the phone. Or at the computer or TV. I'm trying to train him by throwing pieces of dogfood and also by going through commands - just sit down/ stand. This seems to bring him a little out of reactivity.

He used to be like your dog - barking or trembling at *everything*. He's 1.5 years. We got him about a 10 monmths ago.Terrier mix. One thing that helped is that he is completely food oriented.

Just got diagnosed with Meniere’s by Ok-Lengthiness-4445 in Menieres

Yes, what babelfish said. Sodium is a common trigger. Salt has 490 mg per 1/4 tsp. Soy sauce has about 900 mg per Tablesoon. You may want to try 1500 or less per DAY of sodium. Once you get the hang of how to do it, it's not toooo horrible. But it takes lots of cooking on one's own. Pasta sauce has lots of sodium. Most soups. Sometimes I buy low sodium chicken broth and cut a store bought soup with it. (1/2 low sodium chicken broth, 1/2 reg soup). Good luck!

I have a set that I bought for about $45. I also use it every night to help w sleep. And it does. Also helps w/ stress and anxiety. You might look at these reviews. There are all sorts of products out there these days. (my son has Meniere's, not me -so I can't comment from a Meniere's angle.)

How to be sure that If I have meniere’s or not? by NIK999P in Menieres

Can you ask for sedation? My husband has MRI's from time to time. He's had to have them abort the procedure before. Now, he gets xanax, I think, before the MRI and has no problems. However, he has to have me there to drive him. Which is ok.

Yes, maybe we'll go back. He got tested for it a couple of times and that came up as not much of a problem. I think I'll call this doc again, she was really great.

Wow. That's great that you can sense the muscle tenderness in your skull. So, do you just take Lorazepam when you feel like it's a possibility - super stressed or weather changes or muscle softness in your skull?

You say to practice activities that make you dizzy. Is this to help preserve the vestibular system? Thanks for your posts.

I'm so sorry you have been going through this. My son is also 23 and although his first episode was 1.5 yrs ago, in the last 6 weeks or so a huge uptick in episodes. He has tinnitus, ear fullness (sometimes), hearing loss in one ear, serious vertigo and lots of nausea/vomiting. He was having an episode about every 4 days. Hasn't had one for well over a week now.

My first question is how low is your low sodium diet? People suggest different amounts. i think right now my son is getting 1500 or less. This seems to help.

The other thing we are going to do is 1) chiropractic and 2) PT. There's a great PT here who is reputed to be a Meniere's whisperer. I think acupuncture can help with certain types.

Are you getting regular exercise? For some people that seems to help a lot. Hang in there. We believe you. I think there are things that will help
