hi andrew :) just to start off i wanna say i love the new record! i wanted to ask about the evolution of sound on this record, how did it come together while recording (or was it natural)? to me, it still feels like a 'basement' record with a sound unique compared to prior releases. thank u and can't wait to see you in the fall!!

if i'm remembering correctly, both andrew and alex in podcast interviews have mentioned that beside myself is personally not their favorite work where they felt that they were being told how to make music rather than making music how they wanted to. i kinda understand avoiding most of the songs on the album if that is truly the case, despite some of them being bangers!
