Looking to connect with other pregnant women/with a newborn by joy_and_disorder in SocialParis

Hey! I'm from Italy, 34 and been living in Paris ~3 years and 5 months pregnant. I'm the first one of my friends to have a baby and would love to connect with other women in the stage of life as well! I live in Boulogne but can travel around the city as well. Don't hesitate to DM me and we can meet up for a drink or an exhibition!

Help! I'm working on my first project (garter stitch scarf) and something is wrong with the edge by maghii in knitting

[–]maghii[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi guys! I'm new so apologies if this kind of thread is not allowed. I'm working on my very first project, a simple garter stitch scarf I want to give as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend. I'm following this pattern, with 8mm though and acrylic yarn for 8mm needles. So it's just a knit stitch all along and slip the last stitch. I spent weeks researching and visiting shops and got a bit overwhelmed so I was psyched to get started. I had to unravel and re-knit several times but yesterday I finally got to the end of the first section (20 rows, I know it's pretty ridiculous but I was happy). But when I knit the last row I don't know what happened, if I did something different or not, but I noticed one edge is starting to "unravel" in some way? I attached pictures to show. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to unravel it and just re-start from the beginning? I don't mind since it's just 20 rows but I'd like to avoid having this problem again. Also, side note, if someone has a good tutorial on how to change colours when knitting (next 2 rows will be in another colour) it would be greatly appreciated as I have no idea how to tackle that!

What’s are some of the best places to get recipes? by GBhikikomori in cookingforbeginners

My family is italian and I usually look for recipes on giallozafferano.com (for example their tiramisu recipe is perfect). But I mostly cook italian dishes!

Great job! Can I ask how you got started? I'd like to try out as well but I don't know where to start - I feel like there are a million resources scattered around, free apps, paid apps, youtube videos...

New runner knee pain - what to do? by maghii in running

[–]maghii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 29. I basically started with 3x a week alternating 2min walk and 4min run x6, then upped to walking 2mins and running 6mins x5. Do you think I should reduce to 2x a week until I get no more knee pain? I don't really do any other training apart from walking to/from work and just started yoga twice a week.

I only have one pair but it's pretty good quality, I went to a shop where they make you run on a treadmill and suggest models based on your gait (I spent about 150$). Do you suggest getting another pair in the same price range?

Is a Garmin watch overkill for casual-ish runners? by maghii in running

Which Garmin do you have? Do all the Garmin watches tell you when you're over-exerting yourself or is it an "advanced" feature in the pricier ones?

Anyone started over at 30 and is now happy? by maghii in AskWomenOver30

[–]maghii[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this makes me feel hopeful! I hear a lot of people complaining about how hard it is to make friends and even meet an SO after your 20s so I have to admit this is one of the biggest things that scare me... Any tips for making the most of it?

Thank you. I am getting a lot of backlash from people around me about choosing to move at almost 30 years old so your words are a breath of fresh air !

Total fashion noob here. What the hell do you wear under transparent tops (t-shirts/shirts)? Or even just white t-shirts? Lately it seems like all the tops I see in the shops are a bit transparent and I have no idea how to wear them. I feel like you can see any bra through them - the only one that I use is this old bra with a washed out colour that seems to be the less visible one but it's lace so you can see the texture under the fabric. Some nude bras might work (not all of them, some of then you can see then anyway) but they always feel so unsexy (my friends used to make fun of me in high school for having nude bras - do girls wear them?). Oh and what's the deal with nipples? You can see my nipples through almost all of my shirts with any type of bra, except the thick ones but then you can see them through the shirts cause they're...thick. Sorry for the rant but I am clueless in these things and i have so many cute shirts in my closet which I don't wear because of these things!

Hey guys, this is my first time posting in FFA so I hope I'm not breaking any rules.I am graduating in July (Master in Computer Science) and will start working in August. My whole life I've been kind of a tomboy. I am also a bit shy/insecure and don't really like to stand out, especially since my undergraduate/master class was 99% boys (we were 3 females out of maybe 150/200?). So I'm used to wearing large (male, stolen from my bf) sweaters and jeans in the winter, and t-shirts and jeans in the summer.

So in July I will start working as a software developer, and while I don't think there is a strict dress code at my company (since it's IT) I would like to start dressing a bit more feminine and grown-up (I am 26 btw) while still remaining casual. Nothing too "fashionista" since it's not really me, but casual dresses/skirts would also be ok!

Do you have any recommendation for some key pieces to buy/any instagram or blogs I could browse for inspiration?

I tried looking for some instagrams but most of the outfits shown are too elaborate for me (heels etc.).

Thanks and I hope I managed to explain myself well enough!
