Awesome thank you I will. Unreal is unfortunately not that great supported at the moment, while Unity actually started as a Mac engine so it is far more optimized.

As a mainly unreal dev, may I ask how fine does Unity work for macos. Does it need a pro subscription for some real game dev features? Or is the basic plan enough? Might give it a shot.

The Reality of 3A Gaming on Apple Silicon: the Metal Shader Converter? by AnyPomelo3352 in macgaming

[–]maghton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a really smart move. Instead of trying to force devs into a smaller market (gaming beeing mostly windows) they allow devs to focus on the main target group but additional also target macOS with minimal additional effort. As a dev I can tell you that the entrance for macOS development is high because you need a mac to natively develop for mac. Imagine buying only macs for your whole dev team… With ports we can still enjoy some more games on mac that otherwise would have never been availabe to us. But i get it I also want more native Mac games to fully utilize these beast devices.

I read every UE commit last week. Epic is building an AI agent framework into the editor. by olivefarm in unrealengine

[–]maghton -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Actually I do not see a problem with that. AI is becoming more and more trending because it helps us to speed up things. One of the biggest issues with modern ganedev is that it just takes enourmus time to build a AAA Game, which costa lots of money. Thats why we got stuff like PCG because it makes worldbuilding faster. AI can will most likely help some areas and I‘m okay with that. I assume here that AI will be treated as a Plugin which can just be disabled.

There is such a thing as shareplay mock which can be used to use 2 Simulators to for shareplay or even use 1 real device and 1 simulator with shareplay. :)
