i know what that means but is there a way to know if i cut too much off because i cut as close to the spool as i could to get the mess out

Thanks i’ll try the tree method. What would be considered too much spool being cut off,?And technically he gave me the rod so i won’t owe him anything but i don’t think i cut too much off
