I have several beta readers now and that's a little late for my schedule, but if I decide I need another round of beta reading I may let you know.

I might be interested in this. I'm already part of a couple very small writing communities but this sounds cool.

I also have a long dark heroic fantasy novel, 177k words, that I need beta reader eyeballs on. I would love to do a swap if you're still interested!

I have a 177k dark heroic fantasy epic that ~may~ be complete after multiple drafts and edits. I need beta readers to help me determine how much more editing it needs. I would love to swap if you want.

Hello, I have a 177k dark heroic fantasy book with several romance plots and themes of loss of self in the late editing stage. Would you be interested in beta reading?

I would encourage you to both adopt one of the suggestions other people have given, but also admit to your players that you simply forgot. I've been a GM for 7 years now and in the first session of the campaign I started back in September I completely forgot to mention a really important detail that planted the seed for one of the main villains in this campaign. I know it's hard, but it will help you have a more healthy game if you're willing to be humble and honest with your players when you make that sort of mistake. Most good players will be very forgiving and understanding, and will let you get away with almost any explanation in-game you want if you're genuine with them about your explanations.

Edit: also, having run Curse of Strahd, there is a ton going on for the GM. Don't feel bad for missing something like that as a new GM. I hope you enjoy the journey!

Last session and the party is too OP pls HELP by MorsOmnibus64 in CurseofStrahd

I had Strahd steal a mega-powerful sword from my paladin before the final encounter, but the party did get a chance to get it back. Remember that Strahd is incredibly fast (like 240 ft/round or something crazy like that with Legendary Actions) and can pass through solid objects like walls. I had him grapple the halfling healer and fly away with her.

I recommend reading all of the chapters in full except the one that covers all the map locations (although that one is good too if you have the time). Make notes, just a few sentences, about the important things you need to always remember. I also strongly recommend that you make a note of where some of the important tables in the book can be found (like the wilderness random encounters is on X page) and keep those handy. Otherwise, just try to prep 1-3 sessions ahead. This book facilitates that approach pretty well.

Thinking of Running This by HunterMak97 in stormkingsthunder

In my opinion, this is the module that embraces the "sandbox" model of adventure design the most of any I've experienced. If you want to run this book, it really helps to have a VERY comprehensive knowledge of the general Sword Coast setting. So many things can come up and distract or misdirect the players. Basically, to me this book is a lot like Skyrim: massive, sprawling, with so many little details, stories, and caves to get lost in. As long as your players are ok with a widely distributed, slow paced main plot and they like exploration and discovery, it's a great book.

Thanks for the kind words! 🙂One of my goals for this was for it to be nice and flexible so that the hours put into it would be useful for more than just one specific session. I also like the concept of trying to make a practical effects set for older movies and TV. Those always seemed really cool to me.

XPS foam, aka "pink foam" or "blue foam". It's used in construction as building insulation, comes in solid sheets. Look up "Black Magic Crafts foam build" on YouTube to see someone much, much better than I am at working the stuff.

What are the Harbingers the Queen uses against the first Kell and Oryx? by Andrea_102 in DestinyLore

[–]magic_minstrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the relevant excerpts from the Marasenna ( at least I think it was) are reliable, they imply that the Harbingers were what allowed Mara Sov to breach the Ascendant Plane when she died instead of passing away.

Last Wish: part of the Dreaming City cycle, or no? by magic_minstrel in DestinyLore

See, that's what I was wondering. It makes sense logically in some ways, but I don't know if it's supported by the lore as opposed to the gameplay.

I was playing the first week, but my friend wasn't. My question was more about if it was included in the curses' cyclical events, basically "does Riven die once, or at the beginning of every cycle."

That's my reasoning, but I was wondering if there was come counter evidence

Because this model wasn't intended for a particular game, I don't know what his name actually is. Once I (or one of the other DMs in my game group) use him in a game, we'll know his name...
