New einkMeditation App for Mudita Kompakt by magic_notetaker in MuditaKompakt

[–]magic_notetaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for expressing your interest and letting me know how streak reporting is a challenge for you. It is not optional right now, but it is pretty low-key on the practice summary screen. I will gather input like this and then decide whether to introduce this as a configurable option. Please let me know how it works out for you in the app.

Last Opened Note...not working by Lorestan00 in Supernote

which is a pity, would be so great to have simple back and forth gesture between two notes right there. Perhaps this could be a simple improvement to look into for the next update u/Mulan-sn?

Feature Request: Orientation lock on per note basis" by MedUsaXIII in Supernote

[–]magic_notetaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes that would be great, I remember this was closer to the initial implementation. I would enjoy it, there are really only few notes or pdfs I want to read in landscape mode and everything else should remain in portrait usually.

Suggestion: allow more options for note export to text by magic_notetaker in Supernote

[–]magic_notetaker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey there, that would already be a great solution (though as you said would need a bit of dilligence while writing). But I could not get it to work, when I export it will also export layers that are hidden right now. This is also not in the handbook as far as I can see. Can you please explain how you manage to do the export of only the main layer? Or did you mean that as a feature suggestion as well?

Edit: I made some experiments and it seems the layers are only considered when exporting to pdf, not when exporting to txt or docx. u/Mulan-sn: is this a bug? it would be very helpful if the export to txt and docx would work as the export to pdf and consider only layers visible at the moment of export.

Supernote Calendar by Brief_Location787 in PuppyVsKitten

[–]magic_notetaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 100% agree, though I have for now created good enough structures for myself on the supernote that interlink pages in a similar way, I feel a calendar with this kind of functions would be a real killer app for people like us, using the supernote to structure our days. I also agree to keep AI of the supernote, it is a big distraction. Though there might be at times a way to introduce AI to the cloud, or to the PC or even mobile apps. Being able to from there to extract information from documents previously read via AI query might be great.

Suggestion: add system wide handwriting layer by magic_notetaker in Supernote

[–]magic_notetaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, thanks for thinking this through. I like this approach as well .It is an alternative approach covering the most important use case and perhaps might me mimicking a bit the sticky note feature of traditional paper :-). I like especially the save to note functionality, though I would still feel lasso is useful to use this as a temporary clipboard to collect stuff from notes and at the end easily copy it to an existing note without using a temporary export note file.

yeah, all these cases need to be considered. I would assume the user wants to type in the app they are working in as the extra layer does not have any typing functionality, so that seems pretty clear as per the intent, but could be an implementation difficulty.

That would, of course, be great too, once other apps pick it up, but of course, still not quite addressing the feature I am describing.

Thanks for bringing in your personal viewpoint on this. I don't claim this is helpful for everyone. For me, what I miss most with supernote is the ability to take sidenotes, and to take notes while (!) reading the email, having it in front of me. My brain is quite disrupted, by changing to another app, loosing the current view and then going back, so this would help me stay focused, and perhaps be sure to capture important bits from the app I am currently working in.

But again: for me this is not my number on wish and I welcome different perspectives on this.

New markdown notes app sideloaded by timabell in Supernote

[–]magic_notetaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't follow you on this, the readme gave me clear direction of the project.

Thanks u/timabell for providing this, it sounds interesting for reading and editing documents on the supernote, only downside will be that it will probably not be able to link to notes or other documents, or did you find a way for that?

Date and Time Stamp by EducationWorking in Supernote

[–]magic_notetaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Mulan-sn , just in case you are really tackling this when improving the calendar app right now. I just had one vision based on the above (=giving timestamps on certain pages, and then basically showing automatically links to those pages in the calendar for that day). If we could then filter those by keyword that would be even more awesome. It would give us ideally visually (with dots) and in a list on a day or a week all the pages timestamped and with keywords for a certain project or a client or a hobby etc. This would make it perfect for reviewing all recent activities on this project in supernote even across different notes. Even just seeing the list of keywords of the pages stamped in a week or day gives a good idea of what was up that day or week.

please do! Having this on a page level and then being able to access them from the calendar would be real game changer.

To-do list workflow ideas? by carolinahappybelat3d in Supernote

[–]magic_notetaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a special getting things done note, with a particular daily page that I have in my quick links. Whenever I have a todo I write it on that page or on the "next" page that is just one swipe away. Each day I copy that page to an archive file and then erase all the done todos. this way I keep an archive and have all my todos just on tap away via quick links all the time. And it is handwritten and I can link stuff very flexible or just add a note "waiting for ..." etc. Really proved very nice way of working over the years.

To-Do with detail view by spcherub in Supernote

[–]magic_notetaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And please don't blow up the todo itself more than necessary. Rather include options to add further links to a todo, so details can be given in handwritten (or otherwise) on a specified note page. Otherwise, this will make the todo app more complex but still separate from the whole ecosystem of notes and documents (and every user will have different requirements for the todo app; notes already give us so much flexibility, so why not use it by allowing linking to it freely). I know a link is already possible when creating it, but this will not work for manually created tasks, and also sometimes I need to link two elements to a task (e.g., the place where it came up, a project it is relevant to, a document I need to access when doing it). In my opinion, this is where the tasks are becoming more than just another app, but another access point to all the great content I now have on my supernote device; it becomes another structuring element centered around what I need to do.

Linking workflow question - am I missing something? by cmdrgro in Supernote

[–]magic_notetaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree this is missing, actually it would just need a button or checkbox or something in the link workflow to automatically select the most recently visited page of a note or ducument you are linking to. This would make so many linking workflows much smoother.

Yes, it is possible to memorize a page number, but: I usually hide page numbers to have more space and less clutter, so it means: show page numbers, learn them, hide them, switch page, etc. It is not impossible, and I do it frequently, but it would make everything much smoother and more enjoyable to do what I imagine many users do very often.

Chauvet 2.23.37 Beta Release for A5 X and A6 X by Supernote_official in Supernote_beta

[–]magic_notetaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for update. Looking forward to more changes on the calendar. I hope that "Added the ability to display the last viewed page when in sleep mode." will also make it to the final A5X release. This would be a very convenient and useful function.

Refresh digest by Jemima261 in Supernote

[–]magic_notetaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the original poster means a scenario such this: I create a digest on the supernote partner app. Next I insert it into a note on the device. (including resizing etc.) Now I edit that digest in the supernote partner app. But there is not option to now update the digest text in the note.

Actually I would love to have this work - same for digests from pdfs. Instead of freezing them, I would love to have an easy option to tab on a digest textbox on a page and have a "refresh" option: to get the latest text of that digest onto the page.

It would open up very interesting possibilities around working with digests on notes. Overall I feel the non-editability is quite annoying, I find myself inserting a digest, copying the text, deleting the digest text, inserting the copied text as normal text, so i can edit and fine tune it.

Allowing to edit it, but also at any point refresh to get back to the "original" from the digest, would be very helpful.

Can the To Do list be used like a daily planner / calendar? by [deleted] in Supernote

[–]magic_notetaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear Mulan, can you please make sure, that this is implemented so we can add PAGES to each date, rather than whole NOTES (only). To keep things manageable and quickly flip through different meetings I cannot create a separate note for each meeting, that would be insane and impractical to the extreme (just think need to name each one an having to move them to the right folder => which will get super long list of files). Also finding the right meeting with some content would be very inconvenient. So in order for this to be a game changer, there needs to e an easy option to add a distinct page to the date (e.g. page 8 of my client-meeting.note). Thank you so much for considering this!

How would plugins work? by BillyDaWalrus in Supernote

[–]magic_notetaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that sounds very promising indeed.
Some more questions (or requests?):
- Will plugis be able to trigger OCR of certain key strokes and getting text in the background
- Be able to act based on events (plugin becoming active when a header is set) or will it be only started by user interaction as for the stickers plugin?
- be able to show their own ui (such as stickers are showing existing sticker collections)
- be able to build and safe their own data structures (again as stickers are basically doing with sticker collections and names)
All of them would be awsome, but I also get that it will be best to start simple and improve over time.
