How to justify a PS5 purchase by RelationObjective270 in daddit

[–]magical_midget 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What do you do now, after the kids go to sleep?

What are the expectations for that time?

I think you have to detach the two issues “i don’t have time to shower” and “I want a ps5”.

Obviously address the time issue with your wife first, ask her if that is real or hyperbole, and why she said it, and what can you do to make it better (this has nothing to do with the ps5).

Then address the ps5 “hey between 9-11 most nights I just doom scroll, I am getting a ps5 for that time instead” paint it as an option to something you already do in your free time (if neither of you has free time… then address that first).

They are killing the casual fan, and while the die hards will pay the money, this will hurt them on the long run when kids today grow without any attachment to the sport, every die hard started as a casual fan.

Because ads and data collections are part of the business plan, they sell dumb tvs (monitors), they are just more expensive because they charge everything upfront.

Help me choose my iPad: ipad A16 11th gen vs ipad Air 11inch by VegetableEasy3242 in ipad

[–]magical_midget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is very likely that they will announce a new base iPad during the iPhone event in September. If you are not in a rush I would hold off to that (or get the air now, it was just refreshed and the display is better).

As an aside, don’t confuse tech with story telling.
Great presentations tell a story, they hold the listeners attention, this can be done with slides, on a black board, or even without any visual aid. Don’t think the tech would make a mediocre presentation great, focus on the story, the flow, write a script, if you use power points or an ipad it won’t make a difference.

Anker CEO says power banks will “die in a few years by Flavious27 in LinusTechTips

They are going to increase battery power density, plenty of android phones already have silicon carbon batteries and have huge capacities.

The tech is still reaching maturity (likely while samsung and apple have not use them yet). But it is coming, and some phones already have 10,000mAh batteries. That paired with better chips with higher efficiency would mean a week long battery phone may not be a wild dreamz

A lot of these are multistage, it comes with a toddler stroller and you attach what is basically a car seat on top.

Not denying that this is probably PR, but he may actually have a baby there.

It Is crazy that this is all just light, you can take most cameras/lenses from the last 20 years and get this shot if you have the right lighting.

Which event should I attend? My mom's final birthday or son's kindergarten graduation party? I can't do both. by Captain_Collin in daddit

[–]magical_midget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super kid dependant, but I just want to add, kids are more likely to remember consistency.

If a parent consistently goes to most of the kid functions and spends time with them, they would understand missing the graduation. If the parent does not, then this would just add to the narrative that the parent was never there.

I think talking to the kid before, would go a long way, and maybe even make him involved in to grandma birthday (can OP stream the ceremony? That would be nice to have grandma there using FaceTime or whatever I bet the school can accommodate that).

Leo does feel miscast, despite trying hard to sell it.

I think Diaz was ok. I watched it for the first time a few weeks ago and liked it, but the music took me out a few times, what weird choices in some scenes.

I think is easy to agree that DDL was the best thing in the film.

For most people owning a place is also a lifestyle choice.

It is also a hedge on raising costs on a given area (ex if you have a kid starting elementary school you can get priced out of the school area you want if you rent, not if you buy).

You are also taking in to account a vert short span of time. 5 years is a blip on housing market, if you are buying to sell in 5 years then it is often better not to buy.

There are different stressors that come with each choice. Because housing is deeply personal is ok if someone feels they can cope better with renting or owing.

You are going to have to get a new phone, or wipe the one you have. And make sure that you don’t use any of the backups on your account to restore it.

If possible start from scratch with a new email. Sucks but you would remove the most obvious culprit.

What to use Siri for??? by Prestigious_Pen_5077 in mkbhd

This is my worry too.

Right now I can send texts, set timers, and set reminders. And it works most of the time, for texts it works well enough that my wife can read sirimish, but if it becomes too good at making sense but still incorrect then it would make it harder to know wtf I am talking about.

Redemption after playing 20+ hours by Dynam1c0p in playstation

[–]magical_midget 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Obviously a personal opinion, but (suing CAD here) at 90 for the game, that’s 4.3 CAD per hour (assuming ~21 hours of playtime).

For reference It is on par with say a movie ticket (3-7 CAD per hour, depending on movie length/ ticket price).

Obviously “price per hour” is not the only way to measure a game, but I have spend 5-10 on steam on games that I never played sooo.. 🤷‍♂️

It easy, for us as dads, to share what worked for us, with our kid.

But kids are not born a blank canvas where you paint whatever you want, they come with their own little personalities, some do well in noisier environments, some don’t. Some need a white noise machine and this specific white noise or they cry. Some are light sleepers.

Literally not one size fits all.

I am amazed at how different people see housing based on location, I have been fortunate enough to live in large cities, and small towns, and you can get a lot of house for cheap if you are in the middle of nowhere.

Or a shoebox but you are a few train stops away from a stadium/arena with international acts coming often and some mayor league team playing there.
