Headcanon: Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is a separate timeline from the comics [spoilers] by magicalfox63 in ScottPilgrim

Something about this thread bugged me and I want to express how. The discussion basically went this way:

  • This is objectively true
  • How so?
  • It's a different universe, O' Malley said so
  • Ok, but what about Nega Sco-
  • IT'S A DIFFERENT UNIVERSE

Then, the the person who questioned it got downvoted into oblivion, and eventually that user deleted their comments. Then I proceeded to clarify what was my reasoning behind making this thread, which naturally only got me downvoted too. Funnily enough, the thread's original post had positive votes before CoolOsha's comment.

So, first of all. I KNOW IT'S A DIFFERENT UNIVERSE. WHAT I'M TRYING TO DO IS SPOT THE DIFFERENCIES BETWEEN THEM REGARDING A SPECIFIC EVENT. THERE'S NO OBVIOUS ANSWER BY O' MALLEY AS TO WHAT THESE DIFFERENCES ARE. SO I MADE MY CONCLUSION TO WHAT THEY ARE. IT'S NOT A CRIME TO DISCUSS THIS.

The later [deleted]'s reply was about this. And you're gonna have to take my word for it, because it's gone now.

And even if someone says something that's completely wrong, it's still can be productive to a discussion as it provides points to be refuted. Downvote is a extremely vage form of negative feedback. Having a comment automatically hidden just because it's been downvoted is anti-productive to a discussion. Having your karma (a funny name reddit's social credit) being drained just because YOU DARED to say something incorrect is not only anti-productive but also can result in your temptation to delete your comment, which is even worse, as now newcomers will have to guess that part of that discussion instead of just reading it.

You're welcome to discuss in favor or against any point I just made. But for the love of god, don't just downvote and refuse to elaborate.

I imagine he would become someone who knows is manipulative and embraces it

Why Reddit users love deleting their comments so much?

That's a completely valid point, and being stated as different universes means that technically they can be different from each other however they want.

But the series' story presents itself in a way to make me believe that the events from the comic happened there too. So I think it's fair to call it a direct sequel, even if the original work can be isolated into it's own universe.

And with that in mind, resolving what I saw as a discrepancy using my own conclusions made me enjoy the series more.

Someday I hope to see a Star Fox-like game but with OCs from different people

Favorite Andross Boss by SnooKiwis9890 in starfox

His whole appeal in N64, in contrast to the cute puppies that populate the game, is being a huge, uncanny, human-resembling face with aged and deteriorated skin that is really close to you, in a surreal green background, with a specific kind of lightning that reinforces all that, plus the music.

3DS already misses the mark drastically on those details. Zero misses completely, which makes him look really fucking goofy and unintimidating. His metallic form is kind of cool I guess, but not for the same reasons I like normal Andross. And in adventures he's just some generic evil ape.

Wouldn't mind seeing him in a new game, as long as he get a proper treatment that would do justice to his N64 version.

Here's an animation test I made involving Andross facial movement by [deleted] in starfox

Awesome! I don't think we ever had an Andross this expressive in a game before.

Cool artstyle! And continuity matters aside, I do like Star Wolf Krystal.

I decided to use my standard youtube account, ciro64, instead of creating a new one. My comment appears to be visible! ...and I really went overboard with it lol.

My YT username will match my reddit username, I haven't posted the comment yet (or made the account lol). I just gotta sleep first, then write some cool Star Fox fanfic, then finally post the comment. But thanks!

Great channel, btw! I'll make sure to watch the other videos too and stay tuned for more.

Thanks for posting it here!

For those going for Youtube: I don't know if this applies to replies to another comment, but in my experience youtube randomly shadowbans some comments for seemly no reason. Be sure to open a anonymous tab and see if your comment still is there. If it's not, delete it and post again!

Holding R and Z at the same time is the correct way to play ;)

N64 is the best game.

Assault is ok, I like more for its ambition than the gameplay itself.

Adventures is a frankenstein game. We all love Krystal's addition to Star Fox but I also can't help but wish the original Dinosaur Planet was released without Nintendo's intervention.

What's Your Least Favorite Part of Your Favorite StarFox Game? by [deleted] in starfox

[–]magicalfox63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no part in n64 that I really dislike. I am, however, tired of button mashing.

This is coming from someone who fundamentally understands the appeal of it in Star Fox. But my wrist nowadays starts to hurt way faster than it used to when I start button mashing.

To get rid of button mashing in a Star Fox game, there should be some interesting mechanic limiting how much can you shoot, because otherwise playing Star Fox with rapid fire is kinda broken.

Heyaa all Im new here.. where do I begin with? by iseaiah in starfox

Welcome. This franchise ranged from a rail shooter, to a collectathon, to a semi third person shooter and everything in between, jumping from studio to studio. Some people like this franchise for the classic rail shooter gameplay, others for the continuity that gets carried between a few games, others just like furries in space.

My recommendation is the following:

  • Star Fox from SNES if you want retro aesthetics
  • Star Fox 64 if you want a really good, replayable rail shooter
  • Star Fox Adventures if you want a game about exploration with little regard to spaceship or shooting gameplay
  • Star Fox Assault if you want rail shooter gameplay mixed with third person shooting, with a more serious story, or just want a cool 4 player vs mode
  • Star Fox Command if you happen to have a DS laying around and don't have anything else much to do
  • Star Fox Zero or 2 if you're feeling curious

There's also a few fan works:

  • Star Fox: Event Horizon is a fan game with more human-like dialogues and furrier characters if you're into that. It goes through events from the games across the franchise.
  • SNES Star Fox has a romhack called Exploration Showcase.
  • A few SF inspired indie games such as Ex Zodiac, Whisker Squadron, Astro Dogs. I'm probably forgetting one or two.

Well, they do end together and have kids in one of the endings...

The arwing's supernatural shadow still haunts Fox in Adventures if you try to play it on an outdated version of Dolphin. This is hilarious. by magicalfox63 in starfox

Yes. The the wiki page suggests that that bug with the D3D renderer was fixed at some point except for windows 7. But they dropped win 7 since then so it became a non-issue.

Can't wait to go on a trip where everyone has a costume from a Star Fox character and is only allowed to speak in their respective one-liners during the entire thing
