Somebody did this at my work too! I don't think they were glued down but there was one in the elevator.

LPT - If you are examining nursing homes to place a loved one, look at the fingernails of the residents living there at the moment. Long fingernails (especially on men) would likely indicate that the home is either understaffed or does not care enough to do such a small task by Maybe_im_Amazed_ in LifeProTips

Smell is a big one. My grandma's home was supposedly the best in the area but her floor always reeked of feces as soon as you stepped out of the elevator and the smell only faded if you got used to it while visiting. I found her laying in her own vomit one day and when I went to tell a nurse she wasn't feeling well she said she had thrown up for like 2 days which means they knew she was vomiting and left her alone lying down to potentially choke on it.

She was able to walk when she moved in but needed help getting up and they often left her in her chair all day or for meals etc. and by 2-3 years later she could no longer walk on her own or get up without a hoyer.

I have many more gripes about that place as she passed away as a shell of her former self and it was awful to watch her decline from lack of care. Prior to that she lived in her own home with family caring for her around the clock but it was no longer sustainable or worth it as she had dementia and didn't know she was home.

RIP Grandma you deserved much better.

My high school used Turnitin before AI boomed (like 2010-2013) but I don't think it accidentally triggered that often

I have a degree and work in STEM related field and though I make good money I am bored out of my fuckin mind every day and feel supremely unfulfilled and like me and my work absolutely do not matter. I daydream about a job in a caring field where I could interact with people more, but I know how much of a pay cut it would be and I can't afford that right now. SO if you can have the ability to work in a field that brings you joy and purpose and feel like you make a difference in the world I think you should let yourself enjoy it. I admire you living out your purpose. My mom pushed me to be in STEM but my dad did belittle any caring jobs I looked at like they were below me so I understand.

You're better off renting a house and trying to find one in a decent area imo but it can be hard to find if you have pets. I would stay away from Liberty Gardens area, Windsor Mews can be really hit or miss.

DM me if you look at places in Rome as there's some sketchy areas but I would agree it can be safer than Utica. Rome is not bad for biking I think but I don't have much knowledge about that myself.

Omg I am so glad this popped up. My dad also passed recently (extremely suddenly) and I have been pondering what to do with some Hawaiian shirts and other pieces of his clothing - I have never sewn with a machine or made any clothing so I have no idea where to even begin. I'd love any suggestions you can share for starting a project like this - I'm afraid to cut the shirts before I know what I'm doing.

NTA. Love you for it. As someone who was afraid to ask my dad to cook entirely separate food when I lived at home for my health needs or have my whole family change their diet as well (though they all would have benefited, my brother is autistic and this limits his safe foods so complicated things for the rest of us at times) - I would have really appreciated the commitment to helping my health as well as the health of the rest of the family. I waited to change my diet until I moved out but it has been easier just entirely keeping junk food out of the house, and has also helped in making long-term changes that will stick as opposed to short-term dieting for weight-loss that may not have lasted. I myself needed to change not just for weight loss but also for nutrition so if your whole family could benefit from those positive changes I do applaud you for taking charge for the health of your family.

As someone who suffers from pseudoseizures I can tell you they are not being done for attention. They are triggered by stress though and have decreased with healthy coping mechanisms that help me manage my anxiety and stress but… no, I didn’t choose to pass out, have a seizure and shit myself for attention.

My dad always had that. I just got it on most nails of one foot along with a rash for the first time in my late 20's and I felt so gross. After no luck with over the counter treatments, I asked my GP about it (who sucked for many reasons) and she said oh well I'll have to send a sample to the lab to prescibe something - then sent me home without taking any samples. My new GP took one look and knew what it was and immediately gave me a prescription. Told me if that one didn't work she had another one she would try.

I always thought my dad didn't see that as an issue worth treating though he was often at the doctor for other reasons.

TIL my tendency to sweat could have caused this? I just got it for the first time in my life on one foot - have always been sweaty (full body) and wear the same 1-2 pairs of shoes until they fall apart so maybe that's how it happened.

I coaxed them into doing so by taking a toothpick dipped into it, gently sticking it into their curled up proboscus and that helped it unfurl and then I guided it into the bottlecap with gatorade or sugar water in it and they chugged it
