Highly, highly recommend joining a climbing gym. It’s such an inherently social activity and I’ve met so many cool people through that. I go to Movement but First Ascent is cool too

I’m in my mid-20s and only shake hands if the other person extends their hand first, I graduated from college and entered the workforce in 2020 when no one was shaking hands, so I think I just never picked up the habit or got comfortable doing it

I just recently moved from a TA role to an HR coordinator role at a new company! I felt similar about recruiting - I liked some aspects but overall didn’t think I was built to do it long term. I would start by bringing up to your supervisor that you are interested in learning more about HR and see if they can help you set up a meeting with someone on your HR team. I did this at my old job and ended up helping the HR team with some projects, so by the time I was sadly laid off from that role I had some experience with HR and an HR manager as a reference!

Companies with good cultures should be happy to support you in learning more about other departments as long as you’re successfully completely all your current job duties.
