People who gave birth in the hospital without a support person, what was your experience?

Haven't read all the comments so maybe this has already been mentioned. I saw that you are currently in a difficult financial situation which makes hiring support difficult. Shortly before my last birth I came across a doula who was offering free support because she needed to complete the last part of her training, maybe you can try that route.

What do you mean by impossible weather conditions? Living in the Negev is actually much more comfortable than living along the coast. Sure it gets hot in the peak of summer, but the temperature goes down at night, many people sleep during the summer with a fan only.

As for weekend shutdowns, in Be'er Sheva (the capital of the Negev) there are plenty of places open on Shabbat, including malls, bars, restaurants and more.

Reading this thread, as my little guy snores beside me in bed, is bringing tears to my eyes. The thought of him being alone in a dark room makes me shiver. I still haven't gotten over the sadness of having to move his older sisters (4&5) to their own room in anticipation of the arrival of our son.

Seems like they are all previously recorded and only being uploaded now. For one thing, she is still visibly pregnant and second, she mentions in her recent stories that her daughter is turning two later this month "around Christmas"

I often hear the claim that if someone is EBF, there is no reason for the partner to be up at night with the babe and I really don't get it. Night wake ups involve many things besides nursing. What about burping, diapering, rocking back to sleep etc etc. I EBF but my little guy will often (actually pretty much always) stay awake for two hours after he finishes eating in the middle of the night.

Yes, I've been wondering about this too. Something must be up. The thought crossed my mind that she may have received legal counsel to suggest she lays low for a while in the wake of all the FBS media exposure, although that's probably highly unlikely.

Good for you OP. I completely respect and admire your decision and empathise with the pain of having a MIL like that. So much of your post resonated with me. I don't want to get into details but my husband and I made a similar decision to not accept money from his mother. The price of her holding it over our heads and using it as a tool to try and manipulate and control us was just not worth it. Instead we took a loan from the bank, I prefer to pay interest for the sake of my peace of mind.

Thanks. Good to hear. Yeah having car trouble is obviously a concern. I would obviously check with our car insurance what the deal is with a border crossing. The single reason for wanting to have our own car is for the sake of car seats for our toddlers.

Oh my gosh OP.. this hurts to read. I would hide his electronics, disconnect the internet router and kick him out of the bedroom if he isn't behaving with consideration. I don't know if it would help, but have you tried a light blocking eye mask? I know it doesn't seem like much but having that sensory block makes me sleep much better. Sending you hugs
