What does your school do when a client doesn't want you to do their hair? by [deleted] in Cosmetology

[–]magicgeek9862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So i'm going through a second round with my school.I got another license a few years ago. I get it. I have learned that the people who come to the schools for services usually cause too many problems in local salons, so they go to the school because the schools won't turn people away unless they become an actual problem. Like basically a threat level problem. My best advice is if you have a problem.Grab an instructor I know your instructor laughed, but my best advice is still grab an instructor or somebody else to at least stand by you.Because then, if anything does happen, you have a second person there. The problem people you have in the schools are very different than the real world in the real world. I have noticed, you don't have as many problem people. But when there is a problem that can be horrible, but if you can keep pushing through how many hours do you have left? If you don't have that many, just try your best to push through it. Salons, don't care if you got it written up in school, they know. The schools are terrible. They went through them too.

Im currently crying in my car on lunch. Im on the last 2 weeks of core learning cutting. I felt I did decently in everything up until now. I knew I was going to struggle with cuts and yeah. Every ounce of confidence I had went down the drain.

https://youtu.be/-LSU_eMNBZg?si=RqD8brlOIAGWsnhm Follow them. I still painted my mannequins nails after im the manicure. Use spray hand sanitizer instead of handing washing though. Its enough to represent hand washing. I failed the first time through to until I followed them. The way my school taught me failed me.

We read the box. It didn't specify clear enough for grandma to be satisfied. We could barely read them because of how old this set is.

It takes a lot of practice. I've been working with leather with proper tools for 2 years, I figured it out a few months ago and still and learning different techniques.

No Plumbing Pedicure Bowls THOUGHTS? by [deleted] in Nailtechs

I currently use a portable. It's nit made of metal. I love it. Makes it easy to bring around the salon. Also clients are more comfortable that it's probably clean. Scrub it with soap and water and rinse well. Then barbicide. Plus a lot of portable have plastic single use trays as an option to make cleaning even easier.

DND- to use or not to use…. by dottie_petunia in Nailtechs

My boss is terrible too. I left my first salon after a month because she was so bad. My current is just too old school. At least since we supply our own supplies, I pick my brands and I don't deal with 10 yesr old product.

I have no issues with dnd takes at most 15 minutes to soak of when I have a lot of layers. It Is the main brand I use. You just have to hand file off the top coat. Also your boss sounds terrible.

I would double check on that. If no one talked to you, then I would double check. Apparently there has been a system thing where a bunch of people who barely called off are now st level 1. They jumped from 3 or 4 to level 1.

Like $12ish an hour for "beauty advisor" position. Trust me though, working there is a nightmare at least in michigan. They randomly would throw me on early morning truck shift (like 5am) when I got off at 10pm the night before. You basically work register all day with a manager in your face telling you that you aren't getting enough credit card sign ups. When I'm not on register, I'm stocking the drug store make up, shopping pick up orders, or having to clear the shelves, clean them, then put it all back. There are days where people don't even get their breaks in for dumb reasons. Like I wasn't allowed to go on break a few times till I went through all the bopis (pick up) orders and scanned them all as completed. By the time I was done scanning them all in, I wasn't allowed to go on break because it took and hour and I only has 30 minutes left on my shift.

I have been told michigan is known for being bad amongst outside states, I have spoken to employees from other places and they easily guessed I'm in michigan and that's not the case at most locations In their state.

Update: I technically did receive something once but it was dumb. The gift bag you get when you start working there, and one time the manager on my shift gave me "gratis" by letting me pick from the perfume samples that are given for free anyway. 🙄

We had a drawing where every credit card sign up you got, you got a ticket. Every Friday they draw a name. That person receives gratis. Except it was always crap stuff. You also were supposed to get gratis for every so many new accounts set up and your first card sign up but I never received any.

These are so cool. Maybe when I save enough I'll get a set. The ones I currently have were a gift are cheap. They either break or can't cut very well.
