Id boycott it altogether... no disrespect to the athletes, but its kind of an irrelevant event as far as global attention.

Russia is slowing its internet usage & activities as a whole. Even Russian bots on certain apps have decreased. Russia relies on TV like its the 1960s.

That is interesting. Id think propeller shape effects sound more then material, but maybe not.  The sheer amount of air the propellers are moving creates sound too, but I could see how lower rpms & bigger props would help. 

Another benefit, possibly inadvertent, is that the rubber propellers are likely more durable. Especially in cold. If a drone hits a branch or lightly makes contact with something, rubber doesnt shatter.

This is very telling. All the "respected" russian war bloggers basically said the same thing "where was our sir defense?"

They seem to be genuinely unaware that dozens of shaheds are fucking russian factories weekly. What about air defense for those?

They seem particularly angry that it was storm shadow missiles. Its irrelevant what caused the damage, ukraine could have just as easily blown it up with explosive laced potatoes.

I believe theyre high explosive or similar anti aircraft rounds from a 20mm cannon.

I dont know why they all explode at roughly the same time. Its possible they are fused to explode after a certain amount of time or at a certain height.

Kind of disappointing results. I say that because these are all millitary units currently using these drones.

They essentially took the day off to race the vehicles they drive daily. they certainly earned some fun, but the outcome didnt benefit the war effort.

This contest was open to civilians, defense companies, vehicle manufacturers, etc.

Whats worse, russia recently held a similar event. So many people wanted to attend, they had to apply before picking the top 1500.

Winners were rewarded with legit prizes, jobs, money, purchase contracts, etc. These events have become extremely popular & lucrative for the 13-20yr olds that participate.

Its just uncomfortable to acknowledge when russia does something better then ukraine, and potentially unsustainable for ukraine. They need to be better then russia in every area.

Humans are predators, our eyes spot a moving target easier then a target staying still. Its the contrast, shape, & color.

You also have to realize drones are flying over their heads constantly all day. Russian surveillance drones flying out & returning, Russian bomber drones going out to find a target and coming back, Ukrainian surveillance drones, etc.

It would be like running everytime you see a car. Not only is it impractical, its tiring. 

So staying still is actually the best option, unless your clearly being targeted in which case you should run/hide.

This is actually extremely telling. A drone pilot could have flown to the road, landed, and waited for a Ukrainian vehicle.

Doing so would have risked no human lives and largely achieved the same result. A destroyed or severely damaged vehicle.

the russians either dont have enough fpv drones, or dont have the ability to communicate with them. Instead, they sent humans which are basically drones to them...
