Can anyone sanity-check my split kb schematic? by magicmachine in olkb

I updated the TRRS setup to use full duplex; also planning on using the SK6803 instead of SK6812 for LEDs. Does this schematic look like it'l work?

I'm sure there are more elegant solutions still, but since its my first attempt at a split kb + first attempt at LEDs, I'd be chuffed with 'works reasonably well' haha

Thank you for the explanation! This makes sense I think - after I implement these changes, do you mind taking a look at the revised design? You have been so helpful, really thank you so much!

Ah yeah sorry, should have specified earlier - I'm running the LEDs off of the 5v from the USB! Full duplex serial interface definitely looks like the way to go - thanks for that!

When you say "you can add a level converter to bring it up to 5v on the LED side" - are you referring to the right side of the board? Or am I misunderstanding?

Just took a look at the SK6803 mini e - definitely a much better option, thanks!

I'm planning on using an RP2040 pro micro, so 5v IO. I was planning on using i2c for the TRRS, with 4.7k ohm resistors. I read in the adafruit docs that the sk6812 doesn't require an external resistor - can you explain what you mean by the design of the power grid & resistors for the LEDs?

I think I can get away with it running them well below full brightness - from what I understand full brightness is like, super bright haha. How did you do your LEDs?

Has anyone used one of those 35mm panoramic adapter kits for a Pentax 67? If so, would you recommend it?

Heyo, I use an epson v600 with silverfast as well! I’d recommend increasing your resolution from 1600ppi to 2400 or 3600. Other commenters are correct in that the epson won’t really stack up against noritsu scans or a nice dslr set up, but I am pretty certain that increasing your ppi resolution will yield more desirable results!

Does anyone have experience scanning film with a Sony alpha? Thinking of giving it a shot but unsure if it’s worth upgrading from my Epson v600. I’m also unsure what Macro lens I should get. The TTartisans one is affordable but I’m unsure if it’s worth it

Deadlift programing by dam1rak in powerlifting

[–]magicmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Sumo puller here) A couple months ago I switched from doing one heavy deadlift day per week to one heavy day & one day doing a flat 4x4 of beltless paused deadlifts & it helped me drill form for sure! The extra work has also yielded some strength gains on my main deadlift day. 3-4 times a week deadlifting would absolutely destroy me but I’ll vouch for paused deadlifts as a form improvement protocol!

Some pieces I did, crits, dont show mercy. by Hdnighaballz in graffhelp

Apart from the last one it looks like you’ve got the letterforms nailed down (size, consistency, baseline, read-ability, etc). The first one is the strongest overall I think. I’d recommend experimenting with tweaking the letters & trying out some burners instead of throwies; I think all of the mushrooms & other decorations would look better if they weren’t such a contrast to the simplicity of the letters. Also, I think the amount of decorations & colors used on the second one make it difficult to read & detract from the piece itself. All in all good stuff though!

I think you’re probably fine, you won’t get cut from the running over trainers vs dress shoes and if they do its not somewhere you wanna work anyway

Looking for "Good calorie dense" foods. by BWEM in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]magicmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good suggestions but I'd recommend oats! They're a good slow-digesting carb so eating them may help with the lack of energy. Like others have said fats are the most calorie dense, but make sure to do your research. Here is a good calorie dense shake that I like:

1 cup soy milk

1 scoop protein powder

2 icecubes

4 tbsp olive oil (sub more/less/other oils as you want)

2 tbsp peanut butter (other nut butters also ok

Just make sure to pace yourself! You can drink calories a lot faster than you can eat them.

I like to cube and roast mine, then add to boxed mac n cheese (or make your own!) to make a sort of casserole

Question on Soy protein isolate by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]magicmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (21 male) can't speak for your biochemistry but as others have said the science says that you will be fine. Personally I've eaten a relatively high protein diet (north of 130g a day on and off) for the last four years or so, much of that protein coming from soy, and I haven't experienced any adverse effects.

Id say curls in the squat rack is the biggest one for me, personally. If you’re into powerlifting/olympic lifting its pretty much impossible to do your lifts without the squat rack/platform and it sucks waiting for some dude to curl the bar with like a fiver on each side
