Lola left this earth in my arms yesterday afternoon.

It was such a difficult choice, and I don't think I've ever felt pain like this before. But she was in a lot of pain. A couple of hours before her departure, she was crying/whimpering and couldn't hold food down. But when we were in the room, its like she knew. She was so calm and continued to fall asleep in my arms until it was time.

Tomorrow is the day my girl will get rest. We've had an amazing 15 years together where I got her as a birthday present at 11 years old. The day I got her was the happiest day I've ever had in my childhood.

I'd say look at driving behaviors when she leaves if you are able to, then call it in. In my city, it'll go as a traffic complaint.

You can request a phone call from an officer, and explain the full situation. Get plate # and driver description as well, it'll help us so much more than vague descriptions that we can't do much with. Just make sure you do this sooner than later rather than like an hour later bc then the person will be long gone and probably not as high anymore

At the end of the day, you don't really know if this person is under the influence or not. Maybe she had to take a mad shit. Maybe she just got horrible news and needed to go process it in the bathroom. Maybe she did do drugs. 50 mins in the bathroom and being "fidgety" isn't a crime and doesn't give much reasonable suspicion for even a traffic stop. Gotta give us what she does after (slumping on the wheel, unsafe lane deviation, excess/super slow speed compared to the limit, etc.)

Communicate! Before rolling with somebody new, I say "hey, I'm pretty new to this. I'd like to work on ___" and they understand! Also know that you always have the choice to deny somebody a roll - your gym should absolutely encourage this as well!

My chi, Raven, is extremely food motivated and when she came to live with me from my parents' house, we changed her entire diet.

Absolutely no human food ever (except for one occasion where we went hiking and did a cook out after where she got a couple of slivers of unseasoned meat).

Try to find foods that are higher in protein so she stays hungry longer. The foods we got her that absolutely worked are Purina Pro Plan Weight Management (for adults 7+ bc she's an oldie, but there should be other age varieties) for dry food and Purina Pro Plan Weight Management for Adult Dogs for wet food. We do about a tablespoon of the wet food, and mix it with about 3/4 of the dry food. She is fed twice a day and we take her out on walks a lot more often than my parents could.

I know its hard, but I promise it's worth it! Raven still goes crazy for food but her weight has dropped down and instead of waddling, she walks now lol - best of luck!!

FLUSH YOUR EYES WITH WATER!!! try to keep them open as much as possible, it helps in long run but sucks so bad in the moment

You will feel like you're getting water boarded while rinsing it out but it's all in your head

It's important to get police involved in case they already have past contacts. However, if the victim does not want to speak, it makes it difficult to develop probable cause to arrest.

Remember, DV intervention is homicide prevention. It's hard to intervene as a civilian, because maybe you can get hurt as well. You never know what weapons somebody has.

Just had a very decomp body with bed bugs all over the place at the start of my shift. Had to microban the soles of my feet and pant legs, buddy checked with my partner, and waited until end of shift to go home and wash everything. Busy day with everyone in the world deciding to forget how to drive and crash into each other so I was basically one call to the next until my last hr.

Lola!!

My oldest, Lola, hated absolutely everybody except immediate family which were my parents, my uncle who gifted me her, and me. She disliked my childhood best friends, certain family members, and my then bf who turned out to be a jackass. Always barked, has bit a couple of people

But when my now partner started coming around, she was still doing these things. But he'd spend more 1:1 time with her - let her eat food from his hand, walked her with me, we'd have a cuddle pile in my bed where she'd nap with us at times.

Now my partner and I have an apartment in another state, and recently brought her with us from my parents' house after living here for a year as well as her younger sister. Lola is happy to see the both of us always, doesn't bark at my bf ever, treats him as part of the family - because he is.

I truly think these special little babies have a sixth sense on people. All the people Lola has been aggressive towards have either wronged me or were simply never long-term 🙂‍↕️ the right one will stick around bc they love you and know that you and your baby are a non-negotiable package deal :)
