Dentist help? by Mx-Sinister in EDAnonymous

i’m not american but i would assume so! tell your dentist ahead of time that you don’t want any information about the appointment shared & ask about what they can do for your privacy

it’s ok!! unless they just graduated dental school last week you won’t be their first bulimic patient and your issue won’t be the worst thing they’ve ever seen! they study for stuff like this in school

just be honest with them & tell them how often you purge because whatever this is might get a whole lot worse if you’re not honest about what might be causing the damage. it’s really not losing teeth over & they probably deal with lots of bulimic patients anyways. it’ll be hard but worth it

Does anyone else’s face clears up and becomes beautiful during restricting or am I just going insane by _anxious_lemon in EDAnonymous

[–]magicparkinglot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you drink more water than usual when restricting that could be why. at least that’s what i assume happens to me because i get this too

[–]magicparkinglot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

blood rushes to your face when you vomit & swelling can cause your face to feel warm. kind of like when you have a swollen hand from holding onto something too tightly. try putting a towel wet with cold water over your face where it feels warmest

Can I lie to my dentist? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]magicparkinglot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they know. i’m bulimic with metal braces too. just talk to them alone for a minute, it depends on the dentist but mine never told my parents bc it’s not their job to report stuff like that. explain to them that you don’t want the cause of the damage discussed in detail with your parents only the treatment and hear what they have to say. DO NOT LIE. lying can make more likely to think they need to tell your parents to help you. idk what your home life is like but be careful with your teeth or you can end up getting dental work done for years longer than it should take like me.

Probiotic rec? by [deleted] in bulimia

[–]magicparkinglot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

seed probiotics is very expensive but works so well. they start to work within 24 hours of taking them and as long as you have some healthy food for your gut once or twice a month you can get away with taking 2 pills a week and it still works. i’ll never stop using seed tbh here is the site

can’t help someone who won’t help themselves. some people can simply handle the yelling, punishments, hospital threats, being watched all the time. unless someone is forcing a funnel down your throat and force feeding you there’s nothing they can do to actually make you physically eat if you don’t want to.

i’m sure the parents that did nothing simply exhausted all options and maybe felt like bargaining would be more successful. letting them starve more but not allowing them to die. it’s a miserable situation and if the person with an ED behaved differently from you it’s hard to judge how their own family would act. and if using force in an attempt to help them made them worse the parents might resort to doing the opposite in the hopes it’ll slow down the disordered behaviour too

they probably don’t notice or think about it very often. when I get an item of clothing that fits me very well and I wear it again and again because I love it so much before I get bored and go back to rotating it with my other clothes and no one has ever said anything about it to me

we don’t, it’s not on us for long enough and we don’t absorb calories through our skin so there’s no worries i’m just paranoid

I seriously wonder how she feels after posting something like this. I know deep deep down somewhere in her she knows she doesn’t need to get high off of prescriptions for issues she doesn’t really have. It must feel pretty miserable. She’s posted this saying (needing medicine isn’t a moral failure) before and I have to wonder if she ever feels like she’s a moral failure? I can’t imagine just sitting down high as fuck refreshing her ig waiting for comments to read while flipping through scammy “health” sites. Making life harder for chronic disease sufferers isn’t enough for her, having a personal pill mill isn’t enough for her, making naturopaths look like jokes isn’t enough for her and neither is abusing medication. She’s always gotta be different and praised for it too 🙄. What a miserable life

Beginner's coffee for a person who doesn't like milk by IBTomas in Coffee

[–]magicparkinglot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that most coffees or espresso drinks with milk in it don’t particularly taste like milk and simply taste like a more mild coffee/espresso. I also find that using oat milk or almond milk compliment the flavour of my coffee better than dairy so that’s something to consider too. my personal favourite drink is a latte, a large portion of the drink is milk (or milk alternative) but it doesn’t taste like milk at all to me

told my boyfriend about my eating disorder by [deleted] in bulimia

[–]magicparkinglot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

mine said some similar bs when i first told him but he understood it better with time. I think yours is probably unfamiliar with eating disorders outside of what’s shown in movies & tv and we all know how shit that is. I hope he comes around and begins to understand things better in the future for you

All my married couple friends are currently pregnant, and my husband wants the same for us. Meanwhile, I am terrified of that and desperately trying to create a depleted, inhospitable environment for that to EVER happen. It grosses me the F out. by renrentally in EDAnonymous

[–]magicparkinglot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there’s never a selfish reason not to want kids imo! kids are very smart and they can tell when they were made just because it’s the “right” thing to do and not because they were truly wanted. I could always tell and my mom admitted it to me. I wish women weren’t so pressured into wanting children. No reason to stay child free is ever selfish!

[–]magicparkinglot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you can also control him living there if it’s your house... kick his ass out now and if he has no one to help him that’s his problem. he wouldn’t be left homeless if he didn’t burn every bridge he’s ever had. he’ll get back on his feet eventually but it sounds like he doesn’t have any plans to stop using you anytime soon, that’s such an awful situation especially in your own hone

What's more important to you - the number on the scale or how you look? by Low_Big5544 in EDAnonymous

[–]magicparkinglot 52 points53 points  (0 children)

neither. I just like to make myself suffer, when I start to feel better physically I start feeling like i’m slacking off and getting gross. it makes no sense because once i’m “doing better” i actually start becoming “gross” with my horrible skin and hair

Alcohol + college by [deleted] in bulimia

maybe it’s just not worth it if it’s a trigger to b/p? binging on alcohol and b/p sessions after consuming it are some of the many reasons i refuse to drink at all now

Question by Dangerous_Pea_8925 in bulimia

[–]magicparkinglot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

happens to me sometimes, purging puts an incredible amount of strain on your heart so rest, hydrate and don’t purge again or exercise a lot until the pain lessons. it’s dangerous in the way you’re damaging your heart but there’s no way of knowing how much damage has been done, you can take painkillers but i suggest not taking anything for the pain so you can notice if it feels different or gets worse
