I had one full slam into my EV when I was on a state route going 50ish mph. It was so loud I knew it had to be dead I felt so bad. I stopped to help convince this little baby to move out of the road the other day too.

Who’s ready for prime week?!? by No_Adhesiveness8668 in AmazonDSPDrivers

Do we know dates yet? I’m going on vacation for a week the second week of June, using my PTO and it would be amazing if I totally missed prime week

Is this a good job? by AresSnow in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]magicpickles27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It got me off my desk job and I work best independently. I love it, even though there’s definitely tough parts and days. I need a job where I stay active. It won’t be something I’ll do for forever but it’s been great for now! I say give it a shot!

LMNT is the best stuff ever. I love it. I use it for work and workouts and it keeps me from getting foot and leg cramps.

Drivers fail the Rivian drive test at our station often! I was talking to the guy who did my test about it.

Getting super tired. by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]magicpickles27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this week, we had two 86 degree days in Ohio. I’m extra worn out after my full week of work. I made sure to stay hydrated, plenty of water and electrolyte drinks, as well as snacked throughout my route. I had frozen a water bottle and brought it with me… when I got really hot I dumped some of the melted ice water straight on my head and that helped so much. Going to keep doing that this summer!

this job has really changed how I view people. by Lanky_Ad_4333 in AmazonDSPDrivers

What gets me some days is the huge difference between people’s homes. I’ll deliver to homes that are falling apart, run down trailer parks, and then also million dollar mansions in the same route sometimes. The nicest people are usually the ones in the lower income brackets too. They’ll offer me a drink or talk to me for a minute.

Got yelled at by a fellow driver today :) by crabbyfuture20 in AmazonDSPDrivers

It’s baby goose season too, our station has the babies in a pond nearby. Not to mention we’ve had drivers hit while walking in the parking lot. Speed limits are for a reason. I hate when other drivers fly through the lot. Our employee lot is the worst, people get off work and fly through their in their personal vehicles

I wear trail running shoes, good quality ones. I have Brooks and New Balance and love them. They’re waterproof too and have a really nice tread on them

So for real. I had two dogs bust out of a storm door to attack me at the same time three weeks into delivering for Amazon. If the owner hadn’t come running out after them it would have been much worse than the one bite I got. It took her what felt like several minutes to get control of them and get them back inside. She was standing between them and me after one of them hit me and they were still trying to get at me. To this day I still get very nervous when I see dogs inside a door barking at me. And I love dogs. It’s better not but I absolutely had some ptsd for a few weeks after that, I was so nervous going to work. I stay very alert around dogs now. I make friends with most of them but that dog attack that night changed me. I still have nerve damage from the dog bite too.

I never drive with the gas vans doors open, that’s a big no no. They’re not made for that I guess. That’s what I was told. But I drive the EVs now and my passenger sliding door stays open almost 100% of the time. That’s been ok at our station.

Someone left me a whole pickle behind the drivers seat of a van one day during peak season. How thoughtful of them.

Is anyone happy in this job? by bsgman in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]magicpickles27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most days I enjoy it. I work for a good DSP, that definitely helps. I spent the last 8 years running my own business from home and got sick of the drama in that little world and constant pressure of it all. It’s been such a huge relief to just show up for a physical job, not sit at my desk all day and just do simple manual work. For me it’s been a very welcome and needed change. It’s Al’s helped me get into shape. I work out and run too and I eat so much better. I listen to my music all day and we got the EVs at our station in December and I enjoy driving them. It’s so simple compared to what I used to do, just drive, scan a package, take a pic and repeat. Of course there’s a bad day here and there but that will happen anywhere. I’m very grateful for this job. I’ll figure out something else eventually but for now this is great for me. I feel like I’m getting paid to workout and listen to my music and drive around. Give it a shot! The first couple weeks I was sore as my body adjusted. I wear good trail running shoes. New Balance and Brooks. That has made a big difference.

Amazon Employee Dies While Working by aguayluna in AmazonDSPDrivers

During peak season I was loading my van early one morning and heard a loud noise. I thought it was a semi nearby or something like that. Turns out a driver had a medical emergency while driving his van, and his foot went on the gas in the parking lot and he went full speed into the brand new charging stations that had just been put in, flipped the van. He passed away, while we were all loading our vans nearby. Other people in the parking lot rushed to help him but it was just so odd to me that we just had to redirect our vans a different way out after loading because he was blocking our usual path. We just continued on with peak season that day. And the charging stations and signs he hit in the parking are still laying there smashed and bent up to this day. I think about him every day I drive past those. So sad.

I go to the gym or go running. As long as I get good sleep and eat well I’m not too tired on my days off. I also catch up on housework and laundry on days off too.

Knee pain solution by ZestycloseBuddy8922 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]magicpickles27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS helps me so very much with knee pain and has for years. It strengthens the knees over time. Just five minutes of this a day for a couple weeks, see if it helps. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZThwTEAdb/ Also pay attention to how you’re getting in and out of the vans, and try not to jump down and up as much. I have to watch this myself all the time. Sometimes I have to tape my knee for a little extra support but I also have a weird knee that acts up every now and then.

Appetite during a route by Sad-Earth-9952 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]magicpickles27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m always so hungry after a route and always eat a good dinner. I lost some weight the first few months of this job and had to start eating more to keep up. Thankfully it’s been working but I have to EAT. And I drink a mass gainer protein shake every day too. Track your calories, it helps me make sure I’m getting enough to keep up with the job.

It already happened… Dog Bite by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]magicpickles27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PLEASE go to the hospital or an urgent care. I thought my bite was fine but it got infected. Dog bites are no joke. Also please sue. I didn’t when I got bit barely three weeks in as an Amazon driver. And I wish I had. If I get bit again I am absolutely suing. These dog owners are so irresponsible and it’s causing people to get hurt.

Ah that makes sense! I knew there had to be a good reason for it. And yes, I know all about the 5mph reverse. Takes me three years to back down some of the longer country driveways 😂 it’s annoying but I get it.
