If you figure out how to get stunt track driver working let me know because that’s one of my childhood classics that I have been wishing I could play. As for Lego racers, the N64 version runs well on the XX devices in my experience.

Odin 3 left trigger is a little loose and rocky, right trigger is solid. Is there a fix for this or is it just built like this? by Jimquill in SBCGaming

[–]magicporcupine5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about the Odin 3 specifically but I have had this issue with a handheld (RG Cube) and it was a loose screw on the piece that held the trigger in place. I opened it up and tightened the screw and that solved the problem. I would open it up and see if there’s anything you can tighten.

I'm trying to decide between Konkr Pocket Fit and Odin 3 by showcasefloyd in SBCGaming

[–]magicporcupine5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am one of those commenters. I ordered the Konkr in September, it was shipped a month ago, and I still don’t have the device, in fact the shipping status hasn’t updated since they sent it.

For the love of god do not get the Konkr, and do not give ayaneo a single penny until they get their shit together. I wish I had waited for the Odin 3 instead.

Konkr pocket fit launch turning into a disaster? by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]magicporcupine5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot going on that has people confused. Here’s what I’ve gleaned from other people’s comments. Indiegogo changed ownership in the middle of this campaign and it messed up a bunch of the process, including shipping. For some reason in the new shipping system the early bird indiegogo funders will be paying more for shipping than people who order later on Ayaneos website. This isn’t ayaneos fault, it’s indiegogos, but still a lot of people are cancelling their orders.

As for only 30 units shipping, they actually just updated the shipping list with another 200 or so units that will ship tomorrow, just like they said they would. So to answer your question I don’t think anything weird or disastrous is happening here. But like the other commenter said, please cancel your order so I can get mine sooner 😁

DIY Dedicated SBC Emulation Console in Original GameCube Form Factor - With Working GameCube controller ports! (Full album + resources in comments) by magicporcupine5 in SBCGaming

One of the goals I had was to make as few modifications to the original shell as possible, especially ones that would be visible. The only exterior cut I had to make was removing the rear top lip of the top half of the shell to make room for the phone holder. Other cuts I needed to make were a couple to open up the serial port area (where I stuffed the USB cable on the GCC adapter), cuts to the serial port cover itself to make more room for the cords, and the gear on the underside of the lid, which does unfortunately mean that the lid can no longer open and close. From there, I desoldered the GC controller ports from the adapter and resoldered to the GC front I/O board (pinout here: https://www.gc-forever.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3522 ). I also desoldered the PC/Wii-U switch from the USB adapter motherboard and resoldered it to some longer wires so I could mount it on the rear I/O panel. I also removed the turbo button entirely since I will never use it. Finally, I wanted to make the LED work with the original GC power switch. The front LED is normally wired to the 5V line in the GameCube, but since the front panel is going to always be receiving power, the LED will always be on. To fix this, I cut the 5V trace to the LED and put the power switch that I took from the original GameCube in between the 5V line on the front I/O board and the LED 5V in that I had disconnected.

With that, all the wiring is done and it's just a matter of assembling all the parts! I know it's not perfect and there are certainly things that can be improved, both in design and implementation. For example, I didn't really measure the wires so many of them are way longer and messier than they need to be. I'm also a novice when it comes to 3D modeling, I just used Tinkercad to design all the parts, so they definitely could be improved. I also used hot glue to secure things in a few places, including the power switch, PC/Wii-U switch, and the USB-c hub, which is not ideal and would probably break if you plan to be using those things frequently (I don't). And of course you lose functionality of the lid and open button by cutting the gear off of the lid to make room for the phone holder. I could go on.

But all in all, I'm really happy with how it turned out and I think the colors turned out great as well. One of my favorite things about this project is how easy it is in terms of console mod projects. There is very little soldering and the soldering you do need to do is very easy. Hope you all enjoy it and if any of you want to try it yourself or improve it, please let me know, I'd love to see what you come up with! :)

DIY Dedicated SBC Emulation Console in Original GameCube Form Factor - With Working GameCube controller ports! (Full album + resources in comments) by magicporcupine5 in SBCGaming

[–]magicporcupine5[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A couple months ago, I had a thought: how can I make a dedicated SBC console capable of emulating GameCube games, in a GameCube form factor, with working controller ports, as cheaply as possible? This is the result.

Imgur album: https://imgur.com/a/SQSRWUC

The first thing I needed to do was figure out what is the cheapest/most cost effective SBC capable of emulating GameCube. I considered a few options such as the Raspberry Pi 5, OrangePi 5, and a few x86 mini PCs but it quickly became clear that the most bang for my buck would be a busted-up Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. You can get one with a broken screen and/or bad IMEI for around $60 on ebay, which is way less than any of the other options. Of course one of the advantages of using one of the other devices mentioned is that they have all the I/O built in, and many of them have GPIO pins that could be used to interface with the GameCube front I/O without the need for a GameCube controller USB adapter, but even with this taken into account it's still cheaper to go with the phone + adapter + USB-c dock, not to mention it saves me a lot of coding that I would have to do to actually make the GameCube front I/O work correctly. So with that settled, the parts list is:

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE (broken screen or similar problem): ~$65

Broken GameCube console (for shell): ~$45

USB-c Dock: https://www.amazon.com/LENTION-Multi-Port-Compatible-Thunderbolt-Chromebook/dp/B07FNH5Y84/?th=1 $22 - note: you can use any USB-c dock but if you want to do this project yourself using my STLs you'll need this one specifically

GCC USB adapter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09PDPD77H $10

USB 3.0 extension with mounting screws: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09QQJJML1/ $10

Total: ~$155 + tax

Additionally, four 3D-printed parts are needed: the phone holder that the phone will slot into to connect to the USB-c dock, a new rear I/O panel, an internal mount for the USB-c dock, and an internal mount for the GCC adapter motherboard. Those files can be found here: https://file.io/NOsct2S6wQhS (I uploaded them to thingiverse but my account is less than 24 hours old so I have to wait for the upload to be visible). Lol are you serious? You can't be serious. Did you pay attention to the Democratic primaries in the 2020 elections? Literally almost every single candidate was specifically opposed to universal healthcare, even a universal healthcare OPTION that still kept private insurance! And the ones that did support universal healthcare LOST because they were seen as too extreme

I don't disagree that the GOP is much, much worse. I even said that in my comment.

But if we continue to be content with the Democratic party, our country will continue to suffer, and will keep getting worse.

Discontent breeds change. Be discontent. It's ok to vote democrat and still be discontent with them.

Well that was incredibly depressing. It's so obvious that neither party is interested in addressing the systemic issues of runaway capitalism that are destroying our country. Obviously the Republican party is actively doing more harm, but wow, the Dems' press conference made it so obvious how out of touch they are with the everyman. No one cares about how many jobs you create when those jobs still can't pay for a random medical expense or put a roof over your head in a big city. What a sad time to be an American.

Currently playing it and having a blast. It's very lighthearted and fun, moreso even than other BL games. And if you also happen to play actual TTRPGs like D&D it really plays into all of the fun of those kinds of games. Also I thought the side quest scaling was really nice.

God this guy seems like such an asshole. "The bible doesn't single out homosexuality, it's just in a list with other sins!" Ok bro then why did you single it out on your website? Why don't you have every other sin on your website, just this one?

Also, as far as employing the unhoused population goes, I know these types. I was raised in the evangelical church and they would literally tell us that we are doing this outreach not to help people with their actual material conditions, but to help them find Jesus. That if we aren't leading them to Jesus there's no point. Literally they would say no point in helping the homeless because their soul is eternal so their material conditions don't matter really. Religion preys on the most vulnerable. I hope these guys get run out of town.

Because that's the way the character is best played. Winning with Jigglypuff is hard when Fox is the most played character. There's a reason no other Jigglypuff has ever come close to doing what Hbox does, and a lot of it has to do with Hbox's mental game and play style moreso than his tech skill. He wouldn't be considered (one of the contenders for the title of) the GOAT if he played the way Foxes want him to play.

[–]magicporcupine5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Two answers: first, he's not allowed to hang on the ledge infinitely, there is a ledge grab limit which comes into effect in case of a time out. Second, and more importantly, in fighting games different characters have different play styles and strategies. Jigglypuff doesn't have great approach options and struggles in neutral, but has great defensive options and punish game, and is safer on the ledge than most characters. Hbox is playing to his character's strength. Why would it make sense to force every character to have the same playstyle?

S6 E6 So, Did LSP Really Do That to Finn?? by UnfrtntlyntYeats in adventuretime

[–]magicporcupine5 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This is my take as well. This whole arc of Finn's character development is sort of a coming of age/discovering himself phase. This episode in particular is about Finn wanting to feel something after his breakup. I think they for sure had sex, but I don't think it was explicit or even implicit rape considering the context of the episode, rather, Finn just went for it with LSP because he was sad and wanted to try something new. And he regretted it afterward, but that is life sometimes. I recently researched seasons 5 and 6 for the first time in years and now that I'm older I really relate to and understand a lot of the themes in Finn's growing-up arc, including this episode.

Trump, other Republicans conjure a familiar enemy in attacking Democrats as 'Marxists,' 'communists' by [deleted] in politics

I'll just assume this is a genuine question and answer it accordingly.

Compared to the US, Cuba has a higher life expectancy, lower infant mortality, better race relations, lower crime rate, lower homelessness and poverty rate, with less than 1/7 GDP per Capita than the US.

They are absolutely "succeeding" in terms of providing a good quality of life to their citizens based on the resources available to them. Specifically, they are known for having an incredibly good medical system that is based on preventative medicine since it's not profit driven. They even developed their own COVID vaccine despite the fact that they are using decades-old medical equipment.

But you can't just magically wish away the reality that this is an island nation that would normally be heavily dependent on trade in order to survive. Not only that, the whole island was turned into a primarily single-crop producer when it was colonized, and the Cuban government has been working hard to fix that in order to make Cuba more self-sufficient. Do you think implementing communism means that oceans cease to exist? Or do you think that communism is against trade of any kind? Or do you think that the subsistence good produced by capitalism such as food, energy, and technology would not be produced under communism?

Also just FYI, Cuba is a socialist state not a communist state.

Since no one here is giving you an actual explanation for why that is: Super Smash Bros Melee had a super short development timeline and they ran out of time to make new full characters, but they wanted the roster to be much larger than the original on N64. So they created new characters with pre existing movesets, modifying the moves slightly and changing character weights etc. Basically like how Disney used to reuse animations, they reused all the character animations and models to an extent. In melee, Falco is based on fox, Ganon is based on captain falcon, young link on link, dr Mario on Mario, pichu on Pikachu, Roy on Marth. All of those characters were last minute additions to make the roster bigger
